There were no instructions given to me. Although it was a gift, my niece stated that it was her infant's favorite toy, and I am aware that she did not oil it.
It used to be labeled as such. I'm not sure if it said China or India, but I believe it did.

This product has a nice appearance, but it comes with a lot of risks. The ball ends can come off after a while of use, and the wood is very rough, according to multiple reviews. The wood is beginning to splinter in several places after only a few uses. This is unacceptably dangerous for a child's toy.
After my infant son kept trying to reach for the cord for my phone charger, I saw this and immediately connected my wrapped charger to the connections between the wooden pieces on this toy, and I was interested in purchasing it. It's very easy to grasp for small hands, and it's light enough to move around with. My son enjoys banging it up and down, and he can do so easily, with it making small noises for the pieces moving around and whatever noises he chooses to hit it against. My son has fine motor skills delays, so he has difficulty holding larger items, and the strings along this are so easy to hold, that it is a perfect toy for very young babies when they are just starting to hold onto objects and reach for them, and the large size makes it an easy target to grab. It is made of high-quality materials and is extremely long-lasting. This is something I'll buy for other parents who have young children.
My son has always enjoyed this toy (he is now 9 months old and still enjoys it) because it is so simple for him to hold, shake, and squish. His cousin also enjoys it, and the two of them frequently play together; as he grows older, I expect him to use it more like a ball. I 100% recommend this as a gift or for your own child in any case. It would be ideal as a baby shower present!.
This toy's design is very appealing to me. My children have had no trouble holding it; it is exceptional in this regard, and its beauty makes it suitable for use in adult environments. My babies haven't played with it much, but I've kept it with each of our three (now four) daughters. I'd say it's important to put this one away completely after each baby because it didn't seem to hold up to roughhousing toddlers or curious older children. I intended to pass it down to each of my children and then to my grandchildren, as it is a lovely toy, but the kids completely destroyed it, and I couldn't get it back into shape, so I threw it away. Still, I think it'd be a good present for the time being. It's lovely, and people of all ages appear to enjoy looking at it.
I am completely enamored with this toy. When my daughter received it for Christmas, she was overjoyed and immediately began to play with it. She enjoys the sound of it rattling, but I find it unobtrusive. I like that it's made of natural wood, so she can chew on it without worrying about the paint chipping off. I despise brightly colored plastic toys that are unattractive. This is something I can put in the living room and it won't look out of place. I would give this as a gift to anyone with young children. My daughter was five months old when we gave it to her, and she is still playing with it now that she is ten months old.
I like how this is made of wood rather than plastic like the rest of the house! And it appears to be mildly entertaining to my infant. The only criticism I have is that the baby's arm can get stuck inside it at times. Of course, a baby should never be left alone while playing with anything, so this is a no-no. issue. But it's not a toy I'd give her in a car seat or anywhere else where I couldn't keep an eye on her the entire time; it wouldn't hurt her, but it would make her uncomfortable and upset her.
This toy is fantastic! Even though the baby hasn't arrived yet, this is one of my favorite purchases. I'm a big fan of the look of natural wood. And I'll be honest, I'm hooked on it. It makes a lot of noise, but it's very quiet- It has a soothing effect, almost as if it were a rain stick. Because you can't stop turning it and making that noise. (Normally, my husband and I avoid toys that make noise, but this one is an exception. ) One is required for everyone! ) Since buying this, I've wished Manhattan Toys offered other natural wood toys. Because if that were the case, I'd buy them all!.
This toy was purchased by my wife, and while it is well-made in general, I am concerned about its safety. When practicing her standing, my daughter had a habit of hitting herself in the face with toys and also falling in her playpen. The wood pieces have no give if the toy is hit at an angle, so I could see it causing serious injury if she fell on it or it hit her eye.
