You can fry with a battery! In my Jeep, I attached the unit to my Optima Red top battery
In the display, there was a 50% charge and charging up to 62% started. Over an hour ago, it was stuck at 62%. Putting it back on after disconnected, reconnecting it and for it to show 100% charge, I disconnected and reconnected it again. turned off and connected the unit again, and the 62 show appeared once more, and it charged up to 68% and then cut out there. Despite the display indicating that the battery was not fully charged, my fluke meter showed that the battery was 14 volts and more than fully charged. think I would have damaged the battery overnight if I left it in overnight. According to the display, the battery was 12 percent charged. My meter showed almost 14, when it should have been 5. In my opinion, Schumacher does not have the quality he used to have From other reviews, I do not appear to be the only one. I have called twice and left messages twice and have yet to hear from the manufacturer when I sought to return the battery. Amazon said that I should deal with the manufacturer, so I called twice and left messages twice. It shows a lack of quality control and poor customer service. Beware of this company.

I like its light weight and ability to work According to the manufacturer, the charger works as described
When using any charger, it is important to remove any latent surface charge that may be present on the battery so that the charger can accurately read its With this charger, I found that the charge was accurate. In this case, surface charging is determined when the device was at 70% while charging, then it was disconnected and reconnects and it says 100%. You can get a more accurate reading by turning on your headlight for 30 seconds before connecting it to the charger the second time.
There is no question about the price
The work is done. You will be charged. When it is dealing with dead batteries, you might have to encourage it a bit because it registers them as bad at times. If you keep turning the unit on and off, sooner or later it will.

This charger is great
As I couldn't test it out right away, I waited awhile to write a review. Charges at a decent rate and is easy to connect. Others have said it shuts off after the charger has been running a certain amount of time. I also thought the same thing at first, but even though you don't hear it, the charger continues to charge until the battery is.

This is a device that should be owned by everyone
My son received this as a gift. During the summer, he uses it on his farm to operate his John Deer His appreciation of the gift makes it one of the best I have ever given. Keeping this in your car is something I recommend everyone to do.

Does exactly what it says on the tin
In 1989, this charger replaced an old model that had been in use for 30 years. I can confirm that the electronics that indicate the state of charge are functioning As for the reason I didn't give it 5 stars, I felt the clamp springs should be a bit more sturdy. There is no major issue here.
Basically, the charger does what it is supposed to do.

A battery charger that is dangerous! Battery damage is likely to result from using this charger
often have different tractors and vehicles on my property that are not driven regularly, connected this charger to them and it charged the batteries just fine, except that it would not stop charging a gassing sound came from my battery, hooked it to another one and By not shutting down fully, a charger will heat up a battery and cause it to cook and eventually destroy it. It can also explode from the gassing and heat created and cause a fire. My money was refunded by Amazon when my package was returned. You should be cautious when buying.
