Product Description

By entering your model number, you can make sure that this fits.
UL Listed solar cable in a pair (1 piece black, 1 piece red). Solar Connectors (as seen in the photos) are used to finish each solar cable.
SPECIFICATIONS FOR 10 AWG AND 12 AWG SOLAR CABLES CAN BE FOUND IN IMAGE 2 IN THE PHOTO GALLERY.
Wiring Systems, Article 690 of the National Electric Code (NEC), NFPA 70, photovoltaic module interconnection cable for use with or without a raceway.
Solar cable that has been listed by the Underwriters Laboratories (UL) is designed for outdoor use and is moisture, UV, and corrosion resistant. Solar cable is made in the United States.
The most common AWG sizes for solar extension cable are 16, 14, 12, and 10 AWG. The solar cable in this listing comes in two sizes: 12 AWG and 10 AWG, the two largest of the four. The use of large-diameter cable in your solar panel system reduces power loss.

Questions & Answers

Is it possible to use a 10 gauge flexible extension cord with a solar panel?

It should work, but what's the point? These cords are specifically designed for use with solar panels. They come with the necessary connectors already installed, and they are reasonably priced when compared to the cost of copper wiring. The 30ft was purchased by me. I'm quite pleased with the results.

Is this a tinned copper wire cable?

Copper is the type of cable I have.

Can these mc4 connectors be used with Renogy mc4 connectors?

They'll mate, of course. I've noticed that the Renogy panel to Windy Nation cable connections are occasionally so tight that they require a lot of force to open. Tolerances on low-cost plastic-molding parts

Is it possible to connect a 1000 watt solar panel to a 10 awg charge controller with 10 awg?

You can, but you'll lose a lot of power as a result of the heat. You should use at least 4 awg if you want to run 1000 watts at 60 feet.

Selected User Reviews For WindyNation 10 Gauge 10 AWG One Pair 3 Feet Black + 3 Feet Red Solar Panel Extension Cable Wire Solar Connector

Firm and powerful, but it is also a source of loss
3/5

PS: I changed my original review because I tested the cable more thoroughly and found it to be satisfactory, but it did cause a current and voltage drop in the connections. As you can see in the photo, it is much smaller than the original 10AWG wire; I attempted to contact Amazon customer service via email but never received a response. That's fine because I'm going to return it.

I got exactly what I ordered and wanted, but I needed a faster release system, so I converted to an Anderson plug
4/5

I think the 10Guage is a little thinner than I expected. These were exactly what I was looking for. Finally, I knew I needed a way to quickly disconnect everything, including the panels and battery. My solar panels have MC4 plugs, so my husband made a Y conversion for the two 50 watt solar panels I have into an Anderson. So now all I have to do is disconnect the Andersons on both ends, close the home made pack cloth book case style flexible solar panels, and roll the battery out of bad weather, etc. I'm no longer stuck trying to unlock the MC4's with special tools. Having said that, let's move on to the next point. Windy Nation 30 foot pair, brand new in the box. I guess I'll try selling on Amazon. We double-checked the single cable with the double wires inside, as well as the conversions on both panels, and everything appears to be in working order. Because I often camp alone, without my husband and only on rare occasions with a female friend or guests. If the weather changes, I'll have to act quickly, or it'll be easier to deal with a quick system than the MC4's. Of course, the MC4's are popular for good reason in the home, but I was having problems on the road, and I wish someone would sell a commercially made version of what my husband just made me. It took him a full day to complete the project, and even then he realized he had switched a plug. We know it's good, but it's being messed with by someone who isn't us for some reason. yeah. To help with that, I'll use some red electricians tape to label it.

The gauge is not 14 gauge
3/5

thinner! The wire used in this set of cables appears to be smaller than the advertised 14 gauge, as others have noted. It could be metric in size, stranded, and with a copper conductor of 0. 085 inches in diameter, which translates to 14 gauge to 16 gauge (a little thinner than 14 gauge) in American AWG wire standard sizes. In addition, as others have mentioned, the insulation is relatively thick and rigid. These cables will have more loss than true 14-gauge cables because the wire size is smaller than advertised. cables of various gauges The MC4 connectors on the ends fit together well; however, the ones I received had o-rings on them. Rings, on the other hand, are made of brittle plastic and are easily broken.

The Renogy 100w 12 volt charger is perfect for this
4/5

I bought these to give my solar charger more versatility. They worked perfectly, and they came with two cables that connected to the solar charger with ease. The only reason I gave them a four instead of a five is because the cables are separate and tangle easily due to their length. I fixed it in about 30 minutes with a roll of electrical tape. They now function as a single cable and will not tangle (a small price to pay for the cables' high cost). Apart from that, these are excellent cables, well-constructed with heavy-duty 10 ga wire, with no voltage drop and no loss of charging capability. On my trailer, I have four batteries, and these cables allowed me to move the charger out of the shade, allowing me to keep them charged. They're now included in my camp trailer's solar charging kit.

Extensions for MC4 of excellent quality
5/5

My RV has a solar generator, so I can leave the panels out in the sun while keeping the expensive battery pack inside. The convenience and battery life extension are well worth the price. That night, I can simply unplug the solar panels and bring them inside to keep them safe, leaving the extension cable to be used the next morning.

These aren't even close to being a ten gauge
3/5

These aren't 10 gauge by any stretch of the imagination. Lies.

So far, the Renogy 50W kit has performed admirably
5/5

This was installed on my 2004 Jayco Qwest popup and runs from the roof panel to the Renogy 50W kit's included controller to the group 24 battery. I used zip ties on mounts to keep the cables in place on the top and side of the trailer where I wanted them. Wire was run through the electrical hook up port/access door so that it could pull out wire when the roof was raised and tuck it back in when it was folded down. So far, on a trip, I've only used it for a week and have had no problems.

Pre-installed connectors put in place Overall, the quality is excellent
5/5

I needed a 20-foot extension for the solar suitcase kit I recently purchased so that I could set the panels away from the RPod 179's connector. These are exactly what I needed. The only thing that could be better is if both conductors wore the same jacket. The quality is good, and I expect them to last. I ended up tying the red and black cables together with cable/zip ties to make them easier to handle. Because they're 10 AWG, they'll be able to handle the solar panels' output without any problems. These cables should provide me with many years of service.
