Yes. It is, however, ILLEGAL to use a gravity valve to transport gasoline. Using it with a direct feed is against the law. Only APPROVED pumps are permitted to transport gasoline.
No, it isn't, but it does the same thing as yours. So I just don't fill it all the way up and don't park with my truck leaning to one side. I cranked the cap down as tight as I could, but it still leaked and was difficult to remove the next time I went to fill the tank.
A reliable fuel cap is the only thing you're missing. I had the same problem with mine, so I now fill it from the passenger side using two lockable male NPT fuel caps that I recently purchased. You'll need pliers narrow enough to pull the nipple out of the tank while the cap is still attached and discard it.
It is unlikely to succeed. The height of the pump on top of the tank and cap would not be included in the cap's top. Do you really want fuel vapors to collect beneath your bed cover?

My 17 F250 6 now has a new addition. When I was towing my 38-foot fifth wheel, I could only go about 230 miles and could only get gas at truck stops. It's a stressful situation. With 60 extra gallons, it's possible to travel over 700 miles. Hands down, it's a good investment. I threw out the RDS installation kit and went to Lowes to get everything I needed. The fuel filler adapter installation was also improved. Next, I hacksawed 8 inches off the fuel filler to avoid having to drop the tank for installation. By the way, between fill-ups, the vehicle can travel over 1400 miles.
My tank arrived quickly, despite the fact that it came from the farthest reaches of the globe. It arrived unwrapped, with the filler neck secured by a tough UPS envelope zip. The foam and its spring bolts were safely tucked away in the bag, and the tank remained undamaged. I chose a cap that was more fashionable than the one shown in the photo. The only disadvantage is that the PVC plug on the opposite side of the tank was cross threaded. It wasn't a huge deal because it was on the pump's location. And the brass piece that customer service told me was the vent really needs to have some fuel line put on it so that water doesn't get into it.
I bought the kit and used gravity flow to connect it. I am overjoyed! There will be no need to refuel at a high-priced truck stop. For me, this is the ideal size. I pull a 39' fifth wheel that weighs 15,000 pounds. Dually 3500 Ram.
Everything was delivered in perfect condition, and installation was a breeze. I filled the tank once and the fuel cap would not come off after that. The cap isn't locked, and when you try to turn it off, metal shavings fall out because the threads aren't properly grabbed. Overall, the tank is of good quality, but the fuel cap is of poor quality. Thankfully, I'm not using a transfer pump and have access to a water source.
Neoprene strip and special bolts with tension springs were required, according to the instructions. None of these items came with the tank, and RDS did not respond to my email asking where I could get them. So you'll have to go to the hardware store to get the supplies you'll need. The tank installation was simple and straightforward, and it works well.
On Monday, I got this unit. It didn't come in a box; instead, it was just a piece of paper with a shipping label on it. The tank appears to be in good condition and sits comfortably in the truck, which is not surprising. However, when we contacted RDS about the rollover valve, they stated that it should have come with an installation kit that included neoprene strips on the bottom, bolts, and springs. None of this was included in the package. RDS was gracious enough to send us an installation kit.
In my Ram 3500 short bed with 5th wheel, it was a perfect fit. I like how far apart the fill-ups are. Gravity feeding is a must, and I've seen a lot of positive feedback from other RVers.
Tank of excellent quality. My only criticism is that it claims to hold 60 gallons, but I was only able to fill it with 58 gallons. Aside from that, everything is fine.
