Questions & Answers

What's the bungee cord's diameter? 2''?

Two inch.

What is the capacity of this tank in gallons?

I haven't filled it to the brim in a while, but it's still 52-ounces. 54, it takes a long time to fill the last few gallon without tripping the nozzle. Filling must be done slowly.

What does it mean when it says "Not for use with gasoline"? I'd like to use a farm to store and transport gasoline. Ok?

I'm guessing it's a safety issue, but I use mine for gasoline, and I had to install a shutoff on the hand pump or else the fuel would leak out when it reached high pressure.

Selected User Reviews For Dee Zee DZ91750 (53 gallon) Square Transfer Tank - Aluminum

I had to fish scrap metal out of the tank, and it lacked a locking cap and baffles, as described on Amazon
3/5

This tank has three baffles and a lockable cap, according to the product description. It was fantastic that my tank arrived in just three business days! It arrived in excellent condition, which was also fantastic! But when I unboxed it, I discovered that it didn't come with a locking cap, which isn't a big deal because I don't care about that, but there were no baffles inside the tank, which is a big deal because I don't care about that. When I tipped the tank from side to side, I heard something rattling around inside, and I assumed it was some mounting hardware, but it turned out to be a 2" wide piece of Aluminum "Square Tubing" about 5x5 inches square floating around inside! When I contacted DEE ZEE, the poor Customer Service representative had no idea what it could be and admitted that it shouldn't be in the tank. My first thought was that the pump pickup tube should be placed inside that square, but that didn't make sense to me either. I'm not sure why this tank has a 5x5 piece of square tubing inside it. I've only recently discovered what the square piece represents. It's supposed to have been tack welded to the underside of the tank's top around the bungs, I assume as an anti-theft measure. Slosh barrier to prevent fuel from sloshing and leaking around the fill and pump bungs. It's visible in one of the photos I took inside the Bung's left front. The two tiny tacks visible on the loose piece in the tank apparently did not hold and both came off during shipment. My first thought was that this should have been caught at the factory, but it could have gotten loose during shipment. In any case, it's clear to me that DEE ZEE needs to improve their welding quality, and it'd probably be a good idea to make these an inspection point before welding the tanks shut. It's not hurting anything that I can tell, and I could just leave it in there, but it's not supposed to be there, so I'm going to try and fish it up to one of the bung holes and see if a pair of tin snips will cut it so I can bend it and fish it through the 2" opening. I'm hoping it will pass through. I'm not sure if this model is supposed to have baffles or if that's just another erroneous Amazon product description. The tank appears to be sturdy enough, and I don't believe the baffles are necessary because it will be bolted down to my 24ft gooseneck trailer. I'm not concerned about 55 gallons of fuel shifting around in the square tank. The finish is nice and shiny, and it appears to be a nice tank, but due to these issues, I'm only giving it three stars. Actually, I'm thinking about returning it for a different one, but I'm not sure yet.

The bung is positioned in an inconvenient location
3/5

The bung is 3 inches from the bottom on the rounded side. That's a significant amount of volume that has been lost. Because the bung is where it is and I have a gooseneck hitch, my options are to pipe the fuel through the front of the bed or toward the tailgate and back around the side. This also forces the filler cap to be on the opposite side of my truck's filler neck (mine is on the driver side). It does not include baffles, as stated in the description. I'll make it work, but it's not ideal for a short bed/gooseneck combination. A second bung on the flat bottom side would have remedied the situation. They should have placed the fill cap spots in opposite corners so that you could choose between them. It was less expensive than most, and it could work, but poor design choices make it impossible to recommend. The truck is a 2008 Chevy 2500hd short bed truck with a b Gooseneck hitch is included in the price.

Fuel tank that is well constructed
5/5

I've had it for about 5 months now, and I can't tell you how nice it is to be able to pull up in my tractor and fill up from my own tank. This eliminated the need to return to the gas station with 5 gallon containers to be refilled - especially if you're in the midst of a project. There is no rust, no leaks, and it is simple to work with. I have mine on a skid, so I load it onto my truck with my tractor every now and then to take it to the gas station. I'm very pleased with the outcome.

The Finest Aluminum Tanks on the Market
5/5

My local supplier has stopped carrying aluminum tanks due to a variety of factors. Steel tanks are preferred. I sought out another source because I knew Dee Zee was the gold standard. Fortunately, I found the tank I was looking for on Amazon and ordered it right away. The tank is identical to the high-quality tank I previously purchased locally. The shipment arrived earlier than expected. br>br>Like my older tanks, this one has a 2 inch bung hole for a transfer pump and another bung hole for the tank's fill cap.

After a few minor tweaks of my own, it works great
4/5

After a few minor tweaks of my own, it works great. It could have gotten 5 stars if the drain on the tank wasn't 2" off the bottom of the tank, leaving 5 gallons inside that couldn't be used for the vehicle; however, after my modification, I was able to get almost all of the fuel out of the tank.
