The brake calipers do not push in evenly due to flexing. My 2004 HD Road King was able to use it. I found it to be a waste of time. Nice idea, didn't execute well. It is a good idea to save.
The binding is definitely a problem and something designed to slide should not be like this. In this respect, I tightened up the screws and heavily lubricated the drive screw and sliding rod, and that made all the difference. There used to be a bind if you applied a lot of load to There's a good chance you'll snap this thing if you try to gorilla it, but I have done 3 vehicles with it and it is much more manageable Clamp your hands.
The entire thing is a pile of Metal appears to be sturdy, but when you try to use it for its intended purpose, it bends as if it were I used my money in a wasteful way. I was using it the first time when it bent like that.
It is easy to use, but the spreader blades are not very rigid, and they bend a bit when This added a little grease to the threads, making it easier to turn the handle. Unless you need a brake caliper spreader on a regular basis, I wouldn't recommend it, but for occasional use by a shade tree mechanic, it is okay.

In the past few days, I have struggled with one of the front breaks on my car, so I I was so glad I had this spreader. A quality tool that a beginner will also find easy to use, I strongly recommend it. One of the best investments I have made is a brake tool.
After seeing what so many others were talking about, I devised a way to work As a temporary measure, I put one of my old pads between the jaws on the open end, but no pressure on the screw, in order to cover the space that would normally be flexed and closed thus leaving it without a place to flex. Once that was done, it worked like a charm.
