That's most likely not the case. A code thrown by an O2 sensor can be caused by other things as well, so sometimes you will see a code associated with an O2 sensor in addition to In the absence of an UPSTREAM O2 sensor code (sensors in front of the converter), you may need to look into anything from a computer issue to a faulty catalytic converter (driven into a wall? If your firebird is the Trans AM with the V8, then I assume you haven't changed anything, and, in particular, you haven't removed the converter as some folks do. Having said that, if you do not have an O2 sensor code like PO132, I would suggest you check the converter. Take a look at it on YouTube.

The product fits my 1999 Pontiac Bonneville with the 3800, and it works like a charm

During the course of 325,000 miles on my 2000 Chevrolet Silverado, I replaced all four oxygen sensors. This is something I wish I had done earlier. I didn't find it as hard as I had However, I had to get the breaker bar out from the wall and the special socket to remove all the old sensors. The threads were in great shape, despite it looking like a rusted nightmare on the outside. It was too bad that one of the connectors was in an awkward location, but I found it out. I am now getting better mileage. The emissions test went well for me. There was a fix for P0420 and P0430. The catalytic converter in my car did not need to be replaced. Here's something fun to It seemed more sensible to put the protective sleeve over the end of the sensor, so that the wires would be protected. My first impression was a good one. Nevertheless, I tried driving for weeks and was unable to get the diagnostic monitors to work again. further research, I discovered that O2 sensors need fresh air from the outside in order to compare them with the inside. They get that air through small gaps where the wire enters. Be careful not to get grease or anti-freeze on you Get in there and seize the initiative. Sensor bodies were sleeved back onto the bodies as I pulled them towards me. On the next drive, the monitors reset almost immediately, which I was unable to figure out what the problem was.
I had a heater circuit failure at bank one sensor one, code 0135. the oxygen sensor with a Bosch unit, which seems to run a bit rough and the code appeared again soon after. Initially, I decided to research chevy or gm cars that have oxygen sensors that can be replaced. It is recommended not to use Bosch with your car computer, but rather to stick to oems like Denso, which is really the equivalent of AC Delco. In the days following the installation of the Denso oxygen sensor, I have no longer had any issues with the motor.
After writing my O2 sensor code, I immediately terminated it. I was able to replace the original sensor on my 2000 GMC Sierra very easily. I don't know if this helps anyone, but I sprayed a penetrating oil on the sensor and let the truck sit overnight. My open hand gave it a small bump with a regular 3/4" open wrench, and without much effort it came off. If you will use this particular tool once every decade or more, I don't think you need to buy it. Two times, after being on my truck for 19 years, I did this with both downstream sensors.
Despite Amazon's claim that they have the correct fitment, these parts don't work on my 2000 Tahoe Limited 4L60E transmission on a 7-speed. The shoes do not fit after waiting 3 days, and they will take another 9 days for the correct ones to arrive. This is a daily task for me, so I don't have time for it. Buying from AUTOZONE is the best choice for me. There is no such thing as free time.
correctly with an old body style 2000 Tahoe with a Z71 vortec 350 185xxx miles
It was downstream of the catalytic converter on the passenger side. Regardless of where I was idling or how many rpms I was increasing, my truck would misfire randomly. While driving, the vehicle never slowed down/died it also threw 2 codes, one indicating there was a misfire on cylinder 3 and the other indicating the bank 2 sensor 2 was faulty. During the night, I disconnected the negative battery cable from the vehicle and replaced the oxygen sensor the next By doing so, the computer on the truck resets and all the sensors on the truck learn my driving habits again, which helps me run more efficiently. In this case, I recommend doing it this way, unless you don't have time and simply replace it and the computer will adjust over time.
This product was supposed to fit my Silverado truck, but unfortunately it did not. My first attempt was to use zip ties, but I struggled for a moment before deciding to try it. One at 12 o'clock, one at 8 o'clock, and one at 4 o'clock. The pull down was too long and I needed my extra hand to fit it on at 6 o'clock. Zip ties allowed me to complete the installation within one minute. I had to take it off to line up the seams on my steering wheel, which is good since it was too tight to keep on. I am happy with the purchase, it looks nice, it is well constructed, and it feels great.
It is hard to beat either the quality or price of a Denso I previously had a Bosch on my chevy truck, which lasted longer than expected, but it was time for a replacement and like I said, this price was good enough to convince me to get a Denso.
There are problems with the O2 sensors in certain gm Tahoes, Yukons, Escalades, and 1500 trucks. Now that both sides of the unit are replaced, downstream it is working fine.
