This was a gift for my stepdaughter. law, who believes she knows it all and prefers to do things on her own. I've set up a number of in-home entertainment systems. I figured it would be a simple novice install for car electronics. Everything you could possibly need is included in the kit. The wiring kit, as well as the dash kit and antennae adapter - Isn't it simple? Since at least 1985, the wiring kit has been color-coded according to iasca standards. I explained how the wires worked to my daughter-in-law in case she had any questions, and she knew what she was doing before I could finish. br>As a result, the easy to install rating has been reduced to three stars. She returned with a tear in her eye a few minutes later, only to discover that she had plugged the wiring adapter into the vehicle, then become confused and cut the original wiring. She didn't find it half as amusing as I did. After I regained my composure, I instructed her on how to resolve the situation, and she was left to her own devices. She was up and running in a matter of hours. br>In my opinion, it's an excellent kit that includes everything you'll require.
br>Although I like how the dash kit snaps together, it doesn't fit perfectly in the dash. I had to shave a little off the right bottom corner to make it fit because the angles of the corners aren't quite right. br>The wiring harness is fine for a standard head unit, but it will not work if you want to use the steering wheel controls (as I did).
I originally purchased a Metra kit from Advanced Auto Parts for a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, which cost twice as much and only came with the face, not the side tray for the radio. When I bought the radio new, it did not come with a metal tray. I took the radio out of another car with a complete Metra dash kit. This is what I bought before returning the Metra, and it works a lot better. Everything seemed to be in the right place. The screws are the only negative point. I had a hard time putting them on. Fortunately, I was able to use the screws from an old dash kit, which worked perfectly. The fit was excellent; there was no need to adjust anything in order for the main panel to sit properly. The main panel on the Metra was not seating properly because of one corner. It's a good thing I didn't shave it off because I had to return it to Advanced Auto Parts. Instructions aren't very helpful because you'll have to figure it out on your own, but it's not a big deal. This kit has some engraved top/left/right words, which will at least help with orientation. The Metra kit has a plastic petruding "rod" to align on vehicles for more support, but this kit does not, which was not a problem with the screws. If I ever need another vehicle, I'll definitely go with this brand. I was able to save half the cost of Metra by using this service. Because of the instructions and screws, I can't give it a five-star rating. Overall, I'm still very happy with the product; it looks great and there's no movement.
In my Dodge Ram, it was a breeze to install! I used the supplied screws to attach the side tabs to my aftermarket stereo. These side support tabs appear to be for specific imports, but they work perfectly for supporting the stereo in my truck. Much easier to use than reaching behind a stereo during installation and using the ineffective support braket that has been standard on most stereos for decades! This installation kit has exceeded my expectations! Installing a stereo system has never been easier!.
We finally made the decision to replace the stereo in my 2006 Chrysler Town and Country. Country. This installation kit came with everything we needed and was a perfect fit. We had to buy all of the parts separately for my husband's car, and we didn't get an antenna adapter or wire connectors as a result. I appreciate how comprehensive this kit is.
The thin insert ring adapter was my only disappointment, despite how easy it was to install and how well it fit the dash. I installed my radio without a faceplate trim ring, which necessitates the use of a thin adapter DIN ring. Because it's only held in place by the outside edges, it bows out in the middle and doesn't sit flush once it's all put together. I suppose I could glue it in place, but I'm pretty sure that's not how it was intended to be installed. br>Apart from that, it fits those slightly curved Dodge/Chrysler radio openings from the 2000s. ish era.
Keep an eye out for differences in DIN/ISO style. Keep in mind - If it's a DIN, you'll need to remove the stereo's extra metal enclosure, and if it's an ISO, you'll need to remove the stereo's faceplate and install it backwards, just like a traditional DIN. DIN stands for the German Institute of Technology. Hold this faceplate vertically and insert your stereo as usual; you may or may not need to remove any extra metal sheathing around the stereo. If the standard is ISO, then The stereo should say ISO style and/or the stereo face plate should be able to come off so that you can hold it vertically and install the stereo from the bottom up. Replace the stereo face plate on top of this product's face and you're done. For both styles, follow these guidelines: Once it's in place, use screws to secure it to the sides so it doesn't wiggle. I just wanted to make sure that newcomers who aren't familiar with DIN and ISO styles understood this.
The factory opening does not match the bracket/faceplate. To get it to fit, I had to file off two corners. The antenna adapter and harness both functioned perfectly.
