Its purpose is to reduce the size of the factory stereo's hole in your dash so that an aftermarket stereo can be installed. It can be used for a variety of aftermarket stereos once it's been installed. Keep in mind that you'll need a different adapter if you're installing an aftermarket double din stereo. Only a single din can use this. (stereos of average size)
My 2002 was a perfect fit.
Yes, I used it on my Dodge Dakota SLT 4WD Quadcab from 2002.

There is no support for mounting a radio! This section 99 is about 6503 isn't a kit in the traditional sense. This isn't a "radio installation kit" in the least. It's nothing more than a faceplate for opening a radio. br>There is no mounting hardware, screws, or brackets included. For the radio opening, all that is required is a simple plastic bezel. br>Inside the Dodge Ram 1500 dash, the aftermarket radio will still have 1/2" side clearance on each side and about 1" top/bottom clearance, flopping around with nothing to secure it to. br>br>I'm going to try the Scoche CR1277B, which comes with mounting brackets as part of the "kit. ".
So, I read a review that said this product didn't work because it didn't come with a support bracket. So I went to a local electronics store (Fry's) and inquired about which dash kit to use, and they suggested this model rather than the 6505. So I went ahead and ordered this one for my 2005 Jeep from Amazon. When it arrived, I used the appropriate harness and antenna adapter to connect it to my stereo. I discovered that the factory radio is secured to the dash by four screws after removing it. Because the actual radio and dash faceplate are one piece, I was trying to figure out how to secure the actual radio to the dash with the four screws as the dash kit screws down, but since this product lacks any support brackets, it didn't make sense at first. After flipping through included instructions (imagine that), it was actually a pretty simple fix. A removable bracket is included with the Sony aftermarket radio. That bracket is attached to this faceplate, which is then screwed to the dash, and the aftermarket radio slides and snaps into the bracket. The bracket is then secured to the faceplate, which is then secured to the dash, and the radio snaps into the bracket, which is then secured to the dash. As a result, there are no additional support brackets required. For those of you who are new to this, you will need a wiring harness, an antenna adapter, and this kit. I know you can buy the 6505 that comes with support brackets, but this one works just fine. The installation is simple after that. I've only had it for a few days and it works great, but I can't speak to the product's quality; it appears to be made of sturdy plastic and should last a long time. I've heard that other brands' kits can break where they attach to the dash, so I'll wait and see what happens. If anything changes, I'll make a note of it. br>br>Here's a quick rundown of how to set it up:br>1. Connect the wiring harness to the wiring of the aftermarket radio. Crimps or solder can both be used.
2. Connect the dash kit to the aftermarket radio bracketbr>3. Remove the dashboard cover (this varies depending on the make and model)br>4. Remove the factory radio, disconnect the wiring, and disconnect the antennabr>5. Connect the aftermarket radio wiring harness to the factory wiringbr>6. br>7. Connect the antenna adapter to the factory antenna cable. Install the dash kit/bracket on the dashboard (keeping the free ends of the wiring and antenna cable accessible)br>8. Re- 9. affix the dashboard coverbr> Connect the aftermarket radio to the wiring and antenna cables. br>10. Aftermarket radio should be slid into dashboard kit/bracket until it snaps in place. br>br>You've completed the task. br>br>*When working on your vehicle, it's a good idea to disconnect the negative terminal from the battery to avoid electric shock.
EXACTLY WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR! I own a 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan, and I needed to replace the factory stereo system. I did a lot of research before deciding on this dash kit, and I'm glad I did! It's perfect! My husband took out my old factory stereo and put in my new one in less than a half hour. if that! This kit is doing a fantastic job of supporting my new stereo! There were no issues, and the installation was simple! If you're looking to install a new stereo in your car, this mounting kit is a must-have!.
On a 2006 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited (LJ), I installed this. The installation went very smoothly, and the fit was excellent. I initially installed the headunit using a scosche kit, but the fitment was so poor that I decided to use the Metra install kit instead. For the time being, I will only use the Metra kit because it is so much better.
It did the job and fit nicely in my PT Cruiser dash, but it didn't quite fit around my new stereo as snugly as I'd hoped. Because there was just enough vertical wiggle room, I glued in a thin strip of foam to keep the stereo from shifting. I understand that this is supposed to be a universal dash kit for the car makes listed, and that the manufacturer has no idea what kind of stereo you're going to put in. With that in mind, it's possible that it'd work perfectly well with a different stereo model - Who can say? Just be ready to improvise if something isn't quite right.
In an 04 Jeep Wrangler TJ Unlimited, this faceplate fits perfectly and installs in a matter of minutes. It almost looks like it came from a factory, which is exactly what I was hoping for. Piece is well-made and made of durable plastic. Without a doubt, I would purchase this product again.
It looks great, is simple to install, and is of excellent quality. It fit my TJ perfectly. The fit is impeccable.
When I installed an aftermarket radio in my 2004 Jeep, it worked perfectly. I initially believed that the radio required more assistance than this, but this is not the case. It's easy to put together and looks great on the dash.
