I believe the adhesive will hold up well. Clean the hood thoroughly first; I've had no problems with it under my bike's fuel tank, seat, or saddle bags. In my case, it has become encrusted with carbon fiber, metal, and plastic.
I believe it would work in any situation. It certainly helped me with my Honda 1000 pioneer heat problem.
I'd check with a pet store that specializes in reptiles to see if they're sensitive to chemical flash off. There was no odor from this product, and there were no fibers visible in the insulation. Chemical flash off is a problem with all chemical adhesives. br> (adhesive evaporating odor in the air) Regardless of how small the chemical flash br>off is, it can cause respiratory problems in anyone.
I'm guessing it's about an eighth of an inch thick.

This was used to insulate my IKEA cabinets that were in close proximity to the stove. Knowing that broiling something will not discolor or warp the cabinets gives me peace of mind.
It's quite effective. When you clean the surface and use a heatgun to preheat it before applying it, it sticks like crazy. In a rock crawler or buggy, it's used on panels next to and behind headers. They're still quite hot to the touch, but they'd be untouchable if they weren't for this. For anything near exhaust, I'd recommend the similar but thicker 1/8" product; I think I had high expectations.
I had to return this item because it turned out to be very thin - Perhaps 3/32 of an inch thick, but clearly insufficient for the heat insulation I required in my engine compartment. If the advertisement had stated that it was this thin, I would not have purchased it; however, if you need a very thin reflective barrier, this may be a good option.
The finished product was excellent. It was used to conceal a previous blunder under the hood, in which the same thing had become scrunched up and unsightly. This took care of it and made it look a lot more professional. It also provides me with a great deal more security.
It worked great to insulate the footwell and transmission tunnel of my Miata race car. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it worked with just one layer, but the next time the transmission is down, I'll add some more on the underside of the transmission tunnel.
This was used on the steel tunnel under the center counsel and armrest blocking 85% to 90 of the heat.
As an added layer of insulation, we wrapped it around a cabinet beneath our cooktop and around our wall oven. It was simple to put together and gives you a little more peace of mind than simply putting the appliances in the cabinetry.
Nice.
