It doesn't make sense to me why you can't. On our gas stove, we mounted it on a cabinet above the burners. I love the way this works

To give you a rough idea, it is probably between 2 and 3 In my basement, I found a piece that I measured and came up with approximately 30 inches tall. That would be about the same thickness of Standard fabric for a pair of jeans (e. g. Its rivals include Levi's and Converse). That might be of some help.
