This item was repurposed. from the automobile to the kitchen I needed a barrier to keep grease and crumbs out of the gap between two stoves and cabinets. I was underwhelmed by silicone strips (low temperature rating and unattractive) and lacked the necessary tools to custom cut stainless steel. This basalt cloth tape was simple to cut and work with, and it took care of the problem. Also, take a look at the temperature rating - it'll give you an idea of how hot it is. That cast iron pan is available at a temperature of 600°F. To sear a steak without melting, set the temperature to 700 degrees. To clean, use a mild soap and a bath of water. If you're not careful, it will unravel, but it's a good solution otherwise.
I understand that the color will fade, but when I soaked the wrap in water to start wrapping my headers, it felt SLIMY. They also felt extremely light in comparison to other brands I've tried. I threw it away completely.
The weave comes apart easily when handling this stuff, making it a nightmare to deal with.
Wrap is of excellent quality and exactly as described. supple and powerful.
This is not a place to cut corners.
Just as it appears to be came out great didn't even have to take my pipes off my bike watch out for the fiberglass particles try not to rub edges on anything and you should be fine if you wear rubber or vinyl gloves hope this helps be sure to soak in water before installing good product color shines.
Installing this wrap was as simple as installing any other wrap I've done before. I bought from this company because it was made in a nearby town (hometown pride!) and I'm glad I did. I've already recommended this brand to a couple of friends, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a high-quality wrap.
