Questions & Answers
Your question is a brain teaser, but the wrap is 7"x1' as stated in the description.
I'm not sure.br>Sbc starter wrapped I had enough (cut off) extra wrap to wrap around my fuel filter as well.
The question is a bit vague. Is there oil leaking from your alternator? Lol. You are free to leave them on for as long as you want. That is a different issue entirely.
We may have used it on a starter for a Binn transmission in a late model dirt car, but we're not sure.

br>br>I may update this review to "Hate It" if the product is ineffective. Do this. Get some stainless steel zip ties because the Velcro and quality of this product aren't up to par. After securing the blanket to the starter and discovering that I needed to remove my starter in order to install snuggly, I decided to remove it. When I took the product out of the package, the Velcro ripped the foil mat apart. br>br>Yes, you read that correctly. The Velcro ripped the foil mat after I wrapped it once around my starter and then proceeded to remove the product so I could detach the starter from the car and trim it. I was both surprised and dissatisfied. Knowing how to use Velcro has no bearing on the product's actual functionality (except for keeping it on the starter - see below). Wow, what a unique concept to have a starter shield attached to a starter) I attached the blanket with stainless zip ties after trimming it to fit. br>br>Please get some zip ties made of stainless steel!.
Why factory original starters work fine for decades but rebuilt and/or claimed to be completely new material wise reproductions of old starter designs fail due to heat remains a mystery to me. However, the no crank issue that occurred within 10 to 20 minutes after engine shutdown after long drives was completely eliminated as a result of this. Alternatively, on extremely hot days when driving short or long distances. br>I think the price is a little high, which is why I've been debating whether or not to buy one. But now that I have one, the stress-relieving benefits outweigh the cost.
Although it works well for an "instant solution" product, the foil begins to fall apart after about a season due to its thinness and flimsiness. You could use your own foil, but that would be inconvenient. Anyway, it works great until it falls apart; I have two of them and plan to add some of my own foil to give them a new lease on life. The Velcro is a nice touch. During autocross, I use them to keep the exhaust manifold from clogging. Temperatures in the CAT range from super-hot to super-cold. I'm warming up the intake tube that leads to the throttle body. It deflects hot air rising up from below and helps to reflect much of the radiant heat. I've been too lazy to make a custom intake wrap, so this has served as a suitable substitute. Spraying the material with water cools it down a little more, but I believe this has aided in the faster separation of the foil. DEI produces a lot of useful products, and this is one of them. It's a tad excessive in my opinion. IMHO, it is overpriced.
What the listing doesn't mention is that the wrap must be kept 2" away from any heat source or the shied will be damaged, as stated on the package instructions. If you're like me and run block huggers with a full-size late model starter, 2" isn't possible, which is why a heat shield is required in the first place.
The item appears to be exactly as described, but once installed, it has made no difference. It's possible that I require different headers and that this is not an appropriate solution. As I previously stated, it appears to be exactly as described; however, it did not provide me with any results.
My starter heat shield was missing (though the bracket it was attached to was still in place), and finding a new or used replacement for my '91 VW Cabriolet proved difficult. They could get one out of the country, but it would cost more than $100, according to the dealer. So I was pleased with the price of the Versa Shield Heat Wrap, but I was concerned about the fit and whether it would do the job of protecting starters. heat-stressed solenoid Both ended up being fantastic. The width was perfect for the size, but I had to trim the length a little bit to make it universal, but that was fine because the velcro type of securing that was in the material as it was wrapped was intended to work that way.
Cut to fit, according to the instructions. The Velcro strips that were supposed to keep it on come loose once you cut it. The Velcro's stitching isn't strong enough to keep it around the starter right now.
Ascertain that the outer layer does not come into contact with any electrical components. It is going to short circuit. On the outside, the cover is useful, but not on the inside.
