It, like any header wrap or turbo blanket, needs to be heat cycled. After a while, it will stop smoking. Mine took a few hot heat runs to stop smoking.
Please double-check your model to see if it fits the t4 size.

On my 80mm t4 turbo, they fit perfectly. It has a nice appearance and is well-made. It hasn't received any heat from the build yet because it is still being assembled, but it fits snugly and appears to be up to the task. * Update * 2/24/2021 Checked blanket today after switching to e85 and installing larger injectors; the blanket is becoming worn from heat cycles, and the stitching is beginning to come apart; however, the product has performed admirably overall. BTW, the turbo has been pushing up to 24 psi, which gives you an idea of how hot a 5k pound truck would be in a quarter mile.
This is a perfect fit for my turbo and helps to cool it down. br>br>Not worth a star, but due to the style, looping the springs onto the mounts is difficult. Because of this, I had to make do with the springs from an old blanket.
Very good quality for the price, and they fit perfectly with the GT45 turbos!.
When I opened the box, I found an already torn heat blanket that had never been installed because the stitching was torn. The box was in perfect condition.
