My wife used this to cover the rubber valves on her glass torches in her new studio so that oxygen and propane would not leak. Glass is kept from melting in this way, which keeps leaks from occurring as a result of molten glass occurring occasionally. My technique was just to pull the lines through the tube and cinch the ends back together with stainless steel zip ties. Safeguards the lines against accidents by keeping them flexible.
It worked great for my system, but I was having an issue with my headers melting the antenna leads. When I folded it inside itself before sliding it over the cable, I was able to attach it with a zip tie to each end without any issues. An idle smell of burning has been eliminated. The cable was actually smoking before I covered it because it was getting so hot. A car that is idle for 15 minutes will normally start to smoke. During several idle sessions lasting longer than 30 minutes, the cable didn't show any signs of wear or damage, and the covering also showed no There should have been a little gap between the shield and cable, but I thought it best to keep it a size bigger.
My engine bay is always clean when I use this stuff. My heater, PCV, brake booster, and all rubber hoses connected to them are covered with it. It works well if you order the correct Size to cover the OD of your hoses. As a fraying prevention measure, I cut the shielding about 3/16 short both sides and glued electrical tape to the ends as well as covered the tape with I see it is very neat and well-kept.
I actually overdo it sometimes when I work on them. Trying to be perfect is a curse, people! The wires that run through the engine compartment were slipped over with this product as I installed backup and front cameras on my truck.
Having just received this, I had to cut off a 3" section right away. I covered the plug wire and the installation is going well so far. I have ordered another set of wire and hope to use more for installation. I will update this review as soon as we have made further progress.
This looks good, so I'm going to watch it. Under my Jeep truck, it was used to insulate the coax for my CB radio.
For other projects, I plan on ordering more.
Using it to insulate my gas line on my classic car was a great idea. I love it.
