This was purchased because I was getting the "tighten gas cap" error on the dashboard of my 2014 Sierra. It seemed like the best place to start if it wasn't the cap, there were just three options left. Under the hood, there is a solenoid a solenoid by the tank, and a three-way valve It's somewhere in the line. As it turned out, it was not the cap, but my old one was looking haggard in any case. My next step was to replace the solenoid on the intake valve, the cheapest step. I only needed to spend another 20 bucks to fix that dash error.
They wanted to replace the Yellow FlexFuel cap that we already had on the truck, but they weren't able to tell us for sure Yes, this was the correct answer! At a gas station, there is road noise, so it is hard to hear the click of the cap when it only has one "soft" click. At first, we thought we had a bad cap, since we couldn't hear or feel any clicking. However, we found out it was faulty when we replaced it at home. On Amazon, I found the price point to be excellent!.
Previously, I had a stock one that stopped clicking. I purchased this in place of it. As of now, everything is going well. It screws on and clicks with just as much confidence as the original. As soon as my vehicle emissions are done, I'll see if it passes the gas cap test.
It was a 2015 Chevy that kept coming on with the check engine light turned on because of an improper gas cap seal aka p0451. We were able to repair the issue completely and cheaply with this. There may be no need to take a trip to the mechanic if you receive that code.
It is easy to install and works very well. Anyone who drives your vehicle will be reminded that (1) it is a gas, not a diesel, and (2) if they have E85 they should use it (since it is less expensive, after all).
Unfortunately, I did not return this product. I finally got around to using it and the mechanism does not lock/close.
A flex fuel truck with three tanks.
How can I describe my truck other than it looks good.
