My 98 1200 has them and they work well for it. I am unsure if they will work for an 86.
As you mention your year isn't listed, I doubt it, as I know first-hand that it didn't have a model year listed previously. have a 1998 1200 custom which was not designed to
The answer is yes. For my 1989 Sportster 883 I got some just recently and they fit perfectly.
The quality of them was poor. There were some used ones on eBay for the same price and I returned those as well.

They are very easy to use and I like them. The quality is great, and the style is not too bad either. Before you purchase these, you should be aware of one caution. In contrast, the "arm" that connects to the splines on the shifter isn't designed like those on factory Harleys. Slats on the arm have a small half moon indentation along the outer edges, allowing a bolt to slide into the indentation and prevent the arm from moving There is a 1/4-20 Allen screw on these controls that does not operate as it should. The shifter linkage should fall off on its own in about 20 minutes after vibrating for about 20 minutes. A few minutes longer and it might fall off on its In order to fix this, I drilled out the existing holes and put a 3/8 stainless bolt and a lock washer in them. We can never expect it to fall off in its own right So far I have found that to be the only downside to these controls, which I have been running for about 6 months. If you're mechanically inclined enough to install them on your own, you can repair them on your own.
Okay, so I installed these on my Sportster 883 from 1995. Let's start by saying that it feels cheesy in parts. There is a chrome coating on the bolts. I would say that the instructions are pretty The screws and washers are arranged in a way that I couldn't even figure out where they went. I assumed it was for another year bike. There is a plastic shift peg. Drilling is not done correctly for the mounts. I feel as if the entire forward control set up is very shaky and will snap at any moment. Unfortunately, even when I tightened them to the limit, the spirals would loosen and spin. All of the pieces are easy to remove. It looks like the shifter rod is angled up in the air, but I should be able to adjust it by cutting the stock midcontrol mount. There is a strong sense that the brake lever will snap if you squeeze it even slightly. My first step on the brake caused the lever to spin and shoot straight to the floor, so I had to spin it because it spun the first time I stepped on it. It's $150 for a foot assembly that spins and has to be drenched in blue Lock Tite. For 150 dollars you'd expect something better as the foot assembly probably costs them 10 dollars. My honest recommendation would be to keep away from them. Get a quality pair of forward controls with the $150 you saved. I feel as if these are death traps.
Good luck with getting support from the seller on amazon though, you have to go through the manufacturer's website. When I asked for assistance with questions such as what does the spring do, I repeatedly got rejections. It was really awesome to get the controls installed, they do not rub my cycleshack pipes at all, like the harley OEM or some others I bought This is a comfortable pair that can be adjusted within reason. My impression is that the hardware is of great quality. In the assembly process, blue loctite is recommended regardless of the piece. To prevent binding and premature wear on the grey retainers for the shifting mechanism, I applied a small amount of axle grease to prevent the retainers from getting worn out. It took me 1500 miles and I had **** - My review has been changed as of 12/29/19
So, I am reducing one star due to the inability to put on a different footrest. There is no way around this mount because the clevis peg is centered on it, so making your own adapters to allow it to fit in there, then tapping then attaching a new footrest like most aftermarket, will not work. It does not matter where the pegs are placed, there is still about an inch between the edge and the edge away from the foot rests, so the foot rests just drop, no edge to but up to them.
The installation was easy, the build is solid, and the only issue was that the threaded end of the brake rod that goes into the housing for the brake plunger was too short. This was resolved by simply modifying The review has been updated as of The rubber on the pegs and shifters became very cracked after a few months of use. A Tarazon representative responded promptly to my inquiry. After I informed them about my issue, they made repairs by replacing rubber at brake and shifter pivot points and bushings for pivot The customer support I received from Tarazon was great. Thank you and I am sure I would buy the product.
What's up with the 3" long pegs on my boots? My boots are 5" wide. Three inches is all that the Pegs measure. As a result of the shift linkage rod being too long, the shifter is angled up and making it almost impossible to shift up. I cannot install this software because of the installation instructions. There are not half of the bolts included in the picture. There is a mistake in the picture of parts in the directions. A mistake has been made in the size of bolts on the instructions. In the metric system, everything is measured. There is nothing in my emergency tool kit that will work with I would have returned it if I hadn't needed controls as part of a trip. This would not be the best choice if you want a seamless installation without any modifications required.
I found this item to be okay. It looks good when you look at the polished aluminum, because it is decently made. A few negatives are that there is too little or poor quality hardware, instructions are outdated, and the shift knob is plastic. you're trying to save cash or are in a bind, this will get the job done, but if you have the money, you should invest in I like the way it looks on the bike, but the quality is a major concern for.
Since fitment is only four stars, I gave it that rating. Other than that, the points are not exactly where they should be. I need to drill holes or make the halls bigger. Other than that, it looks awesome, has a perfect riding position, and makes my sporty look much more beautiful. As long as you know what you are doing if you are good at working on parts and you are going to fix it yourself, it is an extremely difficult thing to do at home.
I would recommend asking someone with mechanical knowledge to do it for you or asking someone willing to install for you because it does not fit my screaming eagle pipes. I had to change the front foot pegs to make them fit. Having cheap foot pegs does not make me feel I got my money's worth.
