A few days ago, I installed the MX4 on my new 2018 Ford F150. Prior to purchasing the tonneau cover, I carried out a lot of research online. It would have been easy to dismiss some of the negative comments on the MX4 as one-offs, but that did not turn out to be However, the side rails are heavily scratched, even though the packaging is intact and the rails were in individual zip-lock bags that do not appear to show A quality control issue is at hand here, as rails are getting scratched in the manufacturing process while BAK is allowing them to be delivered and packaged. A long scratch is also present on the top of one of the panels. Despite the fact that it was a little bit complicated to install, the overall design is good. The ground has not yet rained, so I cannot comment on how well the bed seals. Given that the rubber seal along the top buckles at every seam, I suspect it does not hold up well. It would have been better for me to have heeded some of the negative comments about the MX4 and chosen a different It is unclear whether or not I will return it. If I were you, I would avoid BAK until their quality control is improved.
Don't buy something unless you know what it is. In May, I purchased a BAKFlip MX4 for my 2018 F150. Install was easy and it looks good, but I probably would have spent the extra money on a new cover if I had known the caveats. Moreover, while you can adjust it in any way you like, all it takes is little effort to push from one side or the other and the latch frees up, allowing you to open the entire cover, rendering the tailgate unlocked. I have also noticed the rubber feet used to protect the surface of the cover have disappeared just a few months after purchase. So I am basically unable to open the cover since I have scratches so until I figure out a solution or get replacement parts, I cannot open it. Yesterday I emailed support in regards to replacements and will see what they respond with. In terms of keeping things dry, there are no problems. Over 400 miles of driving in torrential rain, and just a few drops made it into the car. It would be best if you used the drain tubes from the package. Since I installed it in conjunction with a Bed Rug (which BTW is awesome) I was able to tuck them behind the rug, which helps to prevent water from leaking into the mattress. In all, this cover looks nice, is easy to install, and is quickly deployed (folds up in a snap). I just wish I knew it wouldn't actually keep the contents of my cargo safe, because that was my primary reason for buying.
Now that I've owned this bed cover for a year, it's time to replace it. To and from work on my truck, I wear suits, and I seldom drive more than a few miles on the highway. Two of the corners of this bed cover have broken in two spots, which means it will need to be replaced within a year after minimal use. Below are the attached cross bar on my bed cover fell off as a result of a fall and I cannot secure it to the rails in the center anymore. A replacement cross bar was sent to me, but it won't hold since the rivet holes on the underside of the cover were worn too large. Recenty, the black weather strip closest to the cab of my truck has come unglued from its cover, and was seen flying down the road against my truck. I find it unacceptable that a product would fail this way in one year.
Upon arrival, the surface of the cover had a few small scratches, as well as the rails on which the device mounts. The box was unopened and unmarked, and I get along well with the UPS team. There is no quality control at the manufacturer, so it is 100% rubbish! In the absence of the rubber side seals hiding the rails when the cover is closed, I would have sent it back because I didn't want scratched visible parts on my brand new pickup. Likewise, there is no validity to the claim that the cover makes the bed more secure than the cab! That ridiculous claim is also misleading! Not only are the locking mechanisms that keep the cover sections down made of cheap plastic but even after unscrewing the locks and adjusting them all the way out to the rails, if you push hard against the side of the cover and lift, you can open it When you're done opening the first flap, you can just put your arm into the slot and pull the cord on all the other flaps until they are all This site is very secure! I am pretty disappointed i paid so much for this cover, it fits well into place and looks very attractive on the truck, but that is about the only thing it has to offer, if I had known what it would be like I would have bought a vinyl cover instead!.
A 3 star average is achieved by giving 5 stars for the design and the cover, 1 star for the implementation, and 1 star for quality control. The cover arrived in semi-finished form in the beginning A damaged item. It was crushed at the end of one rail. By using pliers, I was able to straighten it out somewhat. As a result of how the rubber weather seals were packaged, they were crushed. There was also one panel that was "sticked" to Once I realized it was all I had to do was separate them instead of allowing them to touch, it didn't take me long. The manner in which the painting was folded almost resembled the wet paint as it dried. A small amount of paint was damaged, but In spite of that, it functions flawlessly once it is installed. There haven't been any rains yet, so I don't know if it leaks yet, but usually a small amount of water leaks out As I was saying, I'd buy it again, however, it just seems like the company is not in control of their top quality.
