Questions & Answers

What if I want to soften a stiff leather dog leash with this?

Depending on what you are talking about, it may be dried old If it is a new leash that may be coated with a protective jacket, then no. If your leather has a protective coating, Neatsfoot Oil won't absorb into it. As an example A few weeks ago, I bought a new gun belt online. However, when it arrived, it was way too shiny (coated) and did not match the holster I'd got. Acetone and fine steel wool were used to remove the coating, then Neatsfoot Oil was applied.

What are the chances I can use this to remove an acetone stain from a canvas LV ?

Since it is a type of oil, it is only intended to preserve leather and make it more pliable, as well as as a wood finish. Adding more stain to canvas will just make it look worse.

We have a navajo windcatcher that is made with buffalo tail fur. How do I prevent drier leather from drying out when I apply neatsfoot oil to the 'leather' side?

Softening leather with neatsfoot oil is a good idea. I have personally used it on leather shoes to soften them after playing baseball with it. It can also be used on baseball gloves, shoes, saddles, etc. Assuming it can be used on buffalo hide, I would assume it could be used on your piece.

Is a steering wheel no good for leather in a car?

Real leather steering wheels have the top coat of Acrylic Resolene (if they are real leather). If your car manual says just water, then you can clean your steering wheel with that. As Neatsfoot Oil cannot penetrate leather with an acrylic top coat unless you remove it first, if your leather steering wheel is showing signs of wear (wearing through acrylic sealer), take all sealer off There are no signs of wear. Water is the best way to clean.

This product was most effective on vegetable tanned leather that has not been sealed
4/5

The sample I try on is a cognac/tan Lucky jacket I wanted to be a darker brown color. I could not get it to work Although it conditioned a little, it did not significantly darken. The leather had already been treated in some way, so I think this had something to do with it. Even before the jacket was sheened up, it already had a bit of The tool worked great on vegetable tanned leather, however. I turned my cherry red clogs into a beautiful burgundy color. Pictured above is how one layer looked after application, but after it dried it became softer and brighter. In total, two thin layers of paint were required to create Q tips were used to work around the hardware without any Here's a tip If you're working in pairs, be sure to do the layers at the same time. Temperature and humidity fluctuate, so it's best to do them at the same time. My first layer was separated by two days, and the second took it a bit differently and I had to work harder to get it even and match On the second layer, which was done at the same time as the first, nothing changed. I just want everyone to know that.

I like the product
4/5

It's not perfect, but not bad. There are six par bottles in a case. It is great to use neatsfoot oil. A devoted fan base and long history of popularity are the reasons why it has been so I've got it working. My strop block is coated with this oil for preserving the horse hide leather. There is just a little too much firmness in the horse hide. To deform the leather on a strop block when the knife blade is pulled along it, it must deform slightly. Horse hide leather soaked in neatsfoot oil softened just enough after several applications, but it did take some time. It is annoying to have to clean the bottle after every use since the valve cap on the bottle drips. Not a big deal, but it is one of the reasons I deducted one star.

The cap is the only thing I don't like
4/5

A bag of darkening cream had already been purchased from them when I got their other conditioner. This is a good addition to their other product, so I gave it PERSONALITY PROFILE Please note Br>- I invite Easty to apply and I look forward to hearing from her Resulted in even results without streaks. Please note Br>- Even though the leather of the purse was already smooth and soft, it was made even more supple and worn out by this. There was an even more soft and well-rested feel with this It has "worn" feel to it. Please note Br>- There is a lot of oil left over that can be used on many other projects. I've treated the purse with about four coats of oil and used the oil on one smaller purse, yet there is still a lot left over to be used on many other The cons are Please note Br>- They leak so much from the cap of this and their other conditioner. My hands are always drenched with oil every time I dispense some onto a rag, so I mop the sides of the cap afterwards or else the oil runs down the sides. Fortunately, the problem with the other conditioner isn't quite so bad since the cream is a bit thicker. There is a real need for them to retrain Change the types of caps they use or design new ones. my girlfriend and I love this stuff and are glad to know we can trust it with our expensive purses. This purse is a Liebeskind Berling bag I found on one of those buy-it-now sites at a bargain price, one of those fake leather bags that are so popular This is the most commonly used site. Though I loved the bag, the colour was mustard-tan and I did not like it. Now the bag is a medium-size tote. It is a dark brown color. In the future, I would like to be able to get it even By the way, after I use this oil to darken the purse and let it dry for a couple hours, I use Bickmore polishing conditioner to finish it off.

I was able to make my boots look I found working with them easy
5/5

An odor that is mild and neutral. I was delighted with how well my boots darkened and were conditioned. Detailed photos are after the first coat of oil has been applied.

Worked hard on the project
4/5

During the installation of my motorcycle grip, I used this oil to protect the leather wrap. It looked a little too fresh coming out of the box so I decided to soften it up for my hands and darken it a bit. Besides looking great, it feels great too. You should be careful because this can get messy without proper care, and it does not smell too great (but not too strong), so find a safe place to hang up your garment or item. As soon as it is applied, the leather will be darker, but as soon as it has dried, it will become lighter. The look and feel I wanted had to be applied several times, but there was plenty left over for future.

It's amazing, it's wonderful, but make sure you wear According to their promise, they did what they said they would
5/5

bought a leather desktop pad, which is like a protector for my desktop, and I noticed that it got brown stains (someone painted her nails and used acetone on the top of the The mistake was mine). There was a huge stain of white on my hands. Applied evenly, it deepened the color of the leather a bit, but not too much. Only you can apply it and I am able to see The shine gives it a pleasing appearance, and the mark is definitely masked. The application I needed only took a few minutes. This is definitely something I would recommend. I'll say it's only down side is the smell, which is like plastic or something like that. Since it is strong, you should apply it while wearing gloves.

I am happy with the results
5/5

It was applied to my leather sofa and I also used it on my It was evident that these pieces of furniture needed some "attention". My first exposure to this product was in a mystery novel I was reading. In the book the character mentioned how well it worked for fixing worn spots on It was the first time I heard of it, so I ordered a small bottle to see whether it worked. Leather furniture can benefit greatly from this product because it extends their lifespan. My guess is that it would work equally well on other leather goods as well, such as handbags, briefcases, luggage, clothing, etc. Next time, I will buy a bigger bottle!.

Saving an old baseball glove has proven to be a great idea
5/5

It's been around for maybe 65 years. I've used it on saddles and boots and harness, and on My objective in buying this 100% Bickmore was to recondition an old, low-grade guitar Gloves that are of high quality. My old glove feels and catches like a $300 glove now that it has been repaired. It was a pleasure to work with you as you delivered.
