To apply, you'll need a spray gun and a compressor. Or a paintbrush, if you're feeling particularly creative. It isn't compressed with air and comes in a can. It's in a bucket with a capacity of five gallons. To move it from the bucket, you'll need a pump. And. There may be a problem if you have no idea what an aerosol can is.
The black fluid film comes in a 5-gallon container. To apply it, I had to dilute it by 5% with mineral spirits. I'm sure it has a long shelf life. Over time, it will begin to oxidize. It's the most effective rust preventative I've ever used.

I've used the original FF on other vehicle frames that were too damaged for normal undercoating in the past. It's been used twice a year and has never disappointed me. The previous owner had applied undercoating to the frame of my current truck. It had broken down and encased water, leaving the frame in a terrible state. I had no idea that black-tinted FF existed, so I purchased it to try it out. I used a HVLP spray gun to apply the product after descaling and prepping the frame, and the results are incredible. Much of the thick coating in the wheel wells has washed away, leaving my frame with a thin tinted layer. I'm looking forward to seeing how well this product holds up over time, especially in the frigid winters of Western New York.
I prefer the black fluid film to the regular type because the order isn't as strong and the areas you've already hit are more visible.
This stuff is fantastic for rust proofing your trucks and equipment, and it arrived quickly and as described.
Fluid film black had gotten a lot of good press, so I decided to give it a shot. I mixed it and sprayed it on with an undercoat spray gun, and three days later I drove in the rain and it washed away completely. Fluid Film was not very helpful when I emailed them. This product does not meet my expectations. I'm kicking myself for buying a 5-gallon bucket full of it.
There's no better way to keep your car from rusting than to use this product.
I've been spraying it for years, and to keep the mess to a minimum, I use a bucket pump to fill the bottles.
