Questions & Answers

Would it be okay if I dipped the entire rim in it? Will it cause any problems, or will it be ineffective?

It's perfectly safe to soak a rim or any metal for days on end in this solution. I soaked a complete stator assembly from a motorcycle, and it came out looking brand new. When it was dry and installed, it worked like new.

How many times can an item be submerged in this and still be used? I'm only after a ballpark figure. ?

Over the last year, I've gone through about 20 gallons of water while cleaning about 2,000 hand tools ranging from 1. I'm guessing there are about 100 tools per gallon, ranging from 5mm Allen wrenches to pruners and framing squares. However, it all depends on how heavy the rust is to begin with. When I can, I try to use as few words as possible: I come across a flat-pack furniture store. a flat-bottomed container of the appropriate size, and then only enough to cover the tools; That small batch can usually be reused for three or four sets of tools before becoming too black and 'loaded' with rust to use. It appears to be adding more rust than it is removing at that point.

Is the dip basket a part of the package?

My package did not include a dip basket.

Can I pour this product down the sink after using it, and yes, it works excellently? I'm not sure how I'm going to get rid of this. ?

It is not permissible to use it. It's both toxic and biodegradable, and it's safe to flush.

BUT, as much as I despise writing reviews, I can't help myself
5/5

This is absolutely incredible! This is the solution if you're lazy or don't have time to sand rust off for hours. I've only written maybe three reviews in my life, but this is deserving of one! I use it to remove the rust from old bench press weights, and it works great. The only drawback is that it takes time; don't expect to remove 20 years of rust in two minutes; instead, allow 12 hours. It will look brand new in 24 hours (depending on the severity of the rust). I bought the 5 gallon size and boy did I need it. It says you can reuse it, but each time you use it, you will notice it takes a little longer to work. After about three heavy uses (massive rusted parts filled to the top of the bucket), it slows down significantly and the product, at least in my case, turns black (probably from the paint on the weights). But it's hard to tell because these weights have so much rust on them that I'm not sure how much black paint was originally on them. Oh, and it appears to be ridiculously safe, with a very low order, but it does have a faint sulfur (rotten egg) smell, which is very faint and hardly noticeable (also, one of the weights got away from me and splashed in the bucket, and this stuff went everywhere including my face, and nothing happened, so I just wiped it off and went about my business). The color is yellowish, similar to a bad beer. Also, the great thing about this stuff is that you can leave your project in there for as long as you want, 2, 3, even 4 days, with no negative consequences. Once the rust is removed, it will simply sit there waiting for your next project, leaving the unrusted bare metal alone. Do yourself a favor and go big with your purchases! If you're anything like me, you'll soon discover a plethora of rusted metal tools and other items strewn about the house. PS: Because you'll need to dunk, at least the rusted area, and leave it submerged for a long time, this stuff isn't suitable for tables, chairs, or other large items.

The most effective rust remover I've ever used! The safest and most practical rust remover you'll ever come across
5/5

I've tried everything, including electrolysis and various acids ranging from plain muratic to custom concoctions from top brands, and nothing compares to the value offered by evaporust, which I've purchased dozens of gallons of over the years and will continue to do so. It's completely safe, and it just plain works. You can leave it open in the shop and get your hands on it. With two overnight applications (and a water rinse in between), it can even eat through firescale. Because the rust-removal mechanism suspended in the liquid is consumed as it removes the rust, it will deteriorate over time. In a home shop, a five gallon bucket can last for years, but in a machine shop, it could last only four or five months.

This stuff is insanely impressive
5/5

I'm a cheapskate by nature, so the idea of spending nearly $80 on five gallons of rust remover that MIGHT work was difficult for me to swallow. But I was in a tight spot and needed to remove rust from a freshly painted motorcycle tank. Long story short, muratic acid was used to clean the tank, and before I knew it, we had it repaired, and it was filthy on the inside, with rust from the acid. I bought the entire 5 gallon jug, filled the tank, and it was as if nothing had happened for the next 48 hours. It's spotless. If I hadn't seen it for myself, I wouldn't believe it. It was well worth the money.

Amazing rust remover with a water base
5/5

Originally, I purchased a gallon of this product from a well-known hardware store to remove rust from the engine parts of my 4Runner. I was so taken aback by how well it worked that I ordered a 5 gallon bucket from Amazon to dip my 1991 1 engine block. 6 Miata. I purchased a hard rectangular plastic storage container, carefully placed the engine block inside, and then carefully poured in the Evapo- Liquid rust. In just 5 hours, I raised the engine block slightly and could see how well it was removing the rust, and the best part is that it's skin-safe. It can be used over and over again. It will not produce the same amount of smoke as sulfiric acid or other chemicals. Scrubbing the parts with a mechanics cleaning brush or the rough green scuff pads every now and then is recommended. My 1989 mustang v8 engine block is the next engine block I'm going to rust treat with Evapo rust. For a v8 block, I believe I'll need to purchase a second 5 gallon. By the way, you'll need to treat the engine block with sulfiric acid from Klean Strip concrete afterward. The block was first etched with a metal etcher, then primed with epoxy primer, and finally painted to prevent rust. Coolant, like oil, is corrosive-resistant, so there's no need to be concerned about the engine's interior.

I haven't found a better deruster

I make a little extra money by restoring old tools as a hobby. You may need to completely clean a piece that has become rusted and pitted. This is an excellent product. Most tools can be soaked overnight in the bucket if the lid is closed. They clean up after themselves, once and for all. Larger ones, such as picks and mattocks, can only get about halfway clean, but removing them for a scrub with a wire brush can clean them up in an afternoon. br>The key is to keep this stuff from evaporating away from the cleaning area unless you can flip it over and overlap the previous submersion.

I was completely blown away by the results as a first-time user of this product
5/5

I took an old pipe vise that had been outside for years and looked like a solid mass of rust. After a overnight soak and some wire brushing, I was able to see shiny metal on the frame. After a week of in and out, the reaction has slowed significantly, but the pipe vise is now completely disassembled and ready for final cleanup and reassembly. According to the package, EvapoRust removes 1/2 pound of rust per gallon, and I'm pretty sure my jet black sludge contains at least that much rust. Note: I decanted the liquid after a few days of undisturbed storage and discovered a thick layer of yellow slimy sludge in the bottom, weighing at least a half pound, presumably the combined rust.
