This mesh has a fine grid similar to that found in tea balls and is silvery bright in color. It is, however, stretchy to a point, allowing the mesh to be pressed around another rigid form while retaining some of the original's characteristics. Scissors are a simple way to cut. I'm not sure what you're talking about with the plastic models. I've used it to make jewelry and sculpt relief, as well as to build and strengthen poly clay structures. Sure, it's metal if you want to show an interior metal structure, but what if you don't know the scale or nature of your concept?
I believe the "orange" is made of copper and the "gold" is made of brass. The mesh is rolled up and stored in the tube in these photos.

It tears a little too easily, but that's because I'm not used to it. It's fine for sculpting on a hard surface, but it's difficult to use to reinforce sculpy molded into a large, flexible mold. It's a material that might be useful in some situations, but it's not what I'm looking for. However, I'll put it to other uses.
Because of the photo, I was hoping for this to come as a roll. However, it comes folded to 5"x8", and the folds tear easily. Fortunately, I was able to get the piece I needed (approximately 8"x8") by carefully unfolding the mesh. It served as an armature for a polymer clay sculpture I was working on. To keep the curved shape I wanted, I had to add thicker wire and bake the piece on a cardboard form. As advertised, it is simple to cut and form.
Underneath sculpey clay, I used them as a base for dragon wings.
I needed something like this for my next batch of Christmas ornaments.
When placed on a smartless meter, they mistook me for having a smart meter, which I found amusing.
The size of the response was insufficient. br> I was expecting them to be bigger, as they were previously.
It's a good size, and it's easy to cut and shape.
Sculpting clay is ideal.
