As I am not familiar with the term spider ruler, I am not certain if it is the same.

Although you could use this ruler, the grid marks are wrong on this one, so I would not use it for that. I really use it to make kaleidoscopes and cobweb

The very first time I made a Kaleidoscope Quilt, I purchased this fabric specifically for layering the fabric and cutting. Layering the fabric and cutting is what makes the Kaleidoscope Quilt so complicated. It was much easier to keep my cuts straight and to keep the swirls in place with this tool. I was pleased with how it turned out.

In addition to the 45 degree pieces, I am in the middle of making a quilt called the Roundabout. My needs are met by this tool, which is sturdy and is easy to use. This is a program I would highly recommend.

A Creative Grid Ruler attaches to the fabric

Eventually, I plan to change all of my rulers over to Creative Grid Rulers. I find that my hands aren't as strong as they once were, so the ruler occasionally slips while I am working with I'm not going to get a perfect cut that way. It's a pleasure to use these rulers. With this ruler, I plan to make bunting and Christmas Tree blocks, and who knows what else I will be inspired to create. I'm in love with.
