Questions & Answers

Compared to other papers, how smooth and white is this one?

When compared to Arches Natural White Cold Press 140 lb. paper, the Arches Natural White Cold Press 140 lb. It's a little warmer, a lot smoother, and a lot lighter. It's the same color, same smoothness, and slightly heavier than the Aquabee Super Deluxe sketchbook. It's about the same color as a Strathmore visual journal, but thinner and smoother.

Are both sides of the page available for use?

I've had no problems using both sides of the paper for mixed media and watercolor.

Is it a big one?

It is 7. 75"x9. 75". It's a smidgeon smaller than a letter-size piece of paper. When it's empty, it's about 1/2 inch thick. I'd say this is a medium-sized project. I hope this has been of assistance.

Is there any ink on the other side of the paper?

No, unless you have a lot of strong, bleeding paint or ink, but this is a good journal. And if something does show through, use it to your advantage!

This is where I keep all of my sketches
5/5

I've been using this brand and line of sketchbooks for about a year, and I have to say that it's my favorite; I like how the paper isn't too thick, but thick enough to handle watercolor. I also like the fact that it is 100% cotton because watercolor works exceptionally well in this sketchbook. This is unquestionably a well-written piece. rounded and true mixed-race sketchbook made of various media In this sketchbook, I mostly use col-erase pencils, ink, and watercolor, all of which work well. I also used some gouache in it, and I think it turned out pretty well. When it comes to watercolor, it can only take a few layers before it breaks down. It should be fairly flat. The paper has a smooth texture, but not too smooth; I believe it has a vellum finish, which I agree with. The cover isn't the most durable, and marks will show up quickly, but I usually stick stickers and doodles all over my covers, and I prefer softcovers to hardcovers anyway, so I figured I'd mention it in case someone didn't want a cover that gets marked up easily. I used ink and watercolor in the pictures I provided, as well as col-erase pencil sketches and watercolor. I hope you found this information to be beneficial.

Even for light watercolor use, this is a fantastic product! I asked for this journal for Christmas because I didn't realize Strathmore also made a watercolor book at this price point
5/5

I use it to paint with watercolors. Although this paper is only 90lb in weight, it is made of 100% cotton exactly like the best watercolor paper. I did one wash and four glazes on it, and while the paper warped a little, it didn't stop me from painting. In fact, the only difference I noticed between this and more expensive watercolor paper is that it absorbs water more quickly than 140 lb paper. After applying a water wash, I discovered that I had to work in small areas because the sheen of the water faded and I couldn't do wet-in-wet anymore. the use of water That is, after all, why they make a journal out of watercolor paper! I'm just glad it was able to withstand so much wetting and resetting without causing any damage to the paper's surface!.

Good quality, but the packaging could be more protective
4/5

I've recently begun a 365-day drawing challenge in order to improve my art, and this is the journal I've chosen to accompany me on my journey. I bought it because a musician I admire raves about it, but I'll be honest, I was a little worried when I saw there was no protective packaging and it was just thrown into the box haphazardly. The paper's corners were a little bent, and the cover had a few minor scuffs. It wasn't horrifying, but I can see how some people might end up with bent or damaged goods. In terms of the paper itself, I think it's fantastic. It's very clean and smooth, with only a smidgeon of texture, which I don't mind because I do a lot of detailed line work. It can withstand a lot of water without pilling, but it does buckle a little. It shouldn't be an issue if you tape the paper down or hold it taut in some way. I've only used watercolor, gouache, and colored pencils with it, and it's fantastic for those mediums. I've seen in videos where alcohol markers seep through a bit but I can’t say that’s 100% the case because I don’t have or use them and thus Regardless, the paper is of excellent quality; I only wish it came in a more attractive package.

The best art journal for mixed media! This is a list of my favorite art journaling books
5/5

They work well with a variety of media, the pages are resistant to glutting, and you can easily get a double spread on every page. br>My only gripe is that if you use more wet media at the seams anywhere in the book, pages will occasionally fall out. If you want to avoid listing pages, tape the seams. br>Apart from that, this is an excellent book! Because of the soft cover, it is easy to fill to capacity without losing much definition. Many of my journals end up in at least one of the following places: They can still close to a more flat state once they've been filled, according to 5"think.

This is an excellent piece of writing
3/5

Markers have a bad reputation. I bought it specifically to use with markers, and not only does it bleed through right away, but the paper also grabs the ink in such a way that detail and color separation are impossible to achieve. I'm so discouraged that I'm not sure I'll even finish my first piece. With printer paper, I was able to keep the colors where I wanted them to be. (Though the bleed was bad on that as well. ) I'd recommend it for dry media, but if you want to use markers, look for something else.

It appeals to me
4/5

I tried this sketchbook with a variety of mediums and found that it works well with all of them except markers, which are difficult to blend and the paper absorbs a lot of ink. br>br>You can open it flat with a little force, and it has 64 pages according to the description. You won't be using both sides of the sheets. Because the paper shows through and absorbs whatever is on it, you only have 32 pages to work on at your leisure. Even when working with pencils, if you use both sides, it will smudge. It's incredible with soft pastels, charcoal, pencils, pens, oil pastels, acrylics, and gouache. It will hold watercolours, but not as well as professional watercolour papers. So you have to be realistic about that. br>br>Overall, the sketchbook is fantastic; it's the only one I use and am working on finishing.

Multi- it is useful This is incredible - I've used watercolors, pencils, gouache, acrylic, and even oil paints (with gesso) on this thing, and it's never let me down
5/5

I didn't use alcohol markers because the paper type makes it highly unlikely that they would work well with it - By any stretch of the imagination, this isn't Bristol paper. However, you should be fine with almost any other form of media. This sketchbook is fantastic, and I intend to purchase more.
