Questions & Answers

Is it possible to use soft pastels on this paper?

Yes, both pastels and pastel/watercolor combinations work well.

Is it possible to use regular colored pencils and a blender pencil to blend?

Because this is watercolor paper, I recommend using strathmore drawing paper with colored pencils. I've tried watercolor pencils on the paper and they're fine; Strathmore makes a great product for the price.

An eisle is what I use. Will the paints run down the paper if I use watercolor brush pens on it?

Water color on an easel is similar in that you must be careful with the water ratio (for the most part). Cotton, on the other hand, absorbs more liquid than pulp, and since this is pulp, caution is advised. This is what you'd do if you're used to painting with watercolor on pulp paper and an easel.

Is this paper textured on both sides or is the reverse side completely flat?

On the back, it's a little flatter, but not completely flat.

Although this is a good heavyweight watercolor pad and paper, it is not as good as Arches 140 lb
4/5

Arches 140 lb watercolor paper is normally one of my favorites. However, because of the low price and heavyweight paper, I decided to give it a shot. I sketched in the field with it, then brought it home, peeled it off, and taped it to my painting board; the paper took the color well, but the way the color soaked in and the texture were not to my liking. It's a good, solid paper, and I wouldn't hesitate to use it again, but Arches 140 lb paper would be my first choice.

Item arrived on time and undamaged, and it was of excellent quality
5/5

Every Strathmore paper has been a joy to work with for as long as I can remember. The level of quality is incredible. I use this pad because the tooth (texture) is versatile enough that I can use anything from water color pencils to very expensive tubes of water color paints and be pleased with the end result. I have spent many hours comparing brands of water color paper of various weights and believe this fits most needs, with the exception of heavy saturation, where a higher pound weight is required to prevent as little buckling as possible for the better lack of a term. As a side note, our then one-year-old granddaughter used this paper to paint her first creation for her mother. She used a small brush and water to 'paint' a beautiful masterpiece after I drew a bouquet of flowers with Staedtler water color pencils (an excellent pairing). I would have given ten stars if I had the option.

There are some really bad glue lines
3/5

I'm hoping I just got a bad batch and they don't send all of their bad batches to Amazon, but this is a huge bummer for me (anyone who has studied art knows what I'm talking about). I bought this pad for my graduating series work, and I already have frames to fit my work, so seeing such thick glue lines makes it unusable for the project. br>The glue is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy I also can't just paint over the glue because I'm using watercolor. br>Again, this is my first time ordering from Amazon, and I'm hoping it's a one-time occurrence because I never have this problem when I buy them in a store. br>The first page was fine, and I had already started the project, so I don't think I can return it; as a result, the rest of the book is currently unavailable to me.

This is an excellent piece of writing
5/5

Some of my best work has been completed. This is an excellent piece of writing. With this paper, I have produced some of my best work. It's quite large, so I've had to cut it down on occasion for smaller pieces. It absorbs water and colors well, as well as allowing for easy color retrieval. The wet-on-wet designs came out beautifully, and the colors stayed vibrant after drying. Overall, this is an excellent purchase for anyone who enjoys painting with watercolors.

The paper is excellent
5/5

The night before I start painting, I prepare my paper. If you don't, it'll curl around the edges. It's not impossible to work with if you don't prep, but it looks better and takes color better when you do. Regardless of whether you prep or not, it takes color well and spreads little to no. br> I've been using it for a long time and have no intention of switching brands. I don't put it in the fridge to soak; I just spray it and let it dry; I've never soaked it, but I'm thinking that would be even better. To be honest, I'm just a slacker when it comes to it.

Make sure your cat doesn't get into your stash! My Strathmore watercolor paper pleased me and continues to do so
4/5

It is unquestionably a great deal! It soaks up water and watercolor pigments like a sponge. It's a heavyweight paper that's suitable for a variety of purposes other than watercolor painting. I've been using Strathmore paper (Bristol, drawing, multi-purpose) for a while now. For so many years, I've worked in the media, etc. ) and I can't recall ever having a problem that wasn't caused by a cat. Unfortunately, this has happened on several occasions.

The quality is very poor
3/5

Even a small amount of water made the paper crumble. This is the worst paper I've ever worked with as a professional watercolor artist.

When you're in a hurry, this is a great option
3/5

While painting, paper curls up into little balls, which must be brushed off once dry, especially when adding more detail after the first layer has dried completely.
