There is 105 lbs of smooth, hot press paper on this roll. Ink and pencil, watercolor washes, and gouache are all great on this paper. It is perfect for ink and pencil because of its pliable texture. You've got a great idea! The 140 lb. ones are also my favorite. Watercolor is best made with a cold press. If you're going to use a lot of wet stuff, heavier paper is better. My personal opinion is that Etchr produces some of the best paper on the market right now.

My favorite part of the paper is the image on the front. The wet part of the job isn't a problem for me With watercolors, it is possible to wet the paper and make it withstand it You can also use gouache with it. Only one problem is that the binding broke (pictured) and I've only used 2 pages so far and have only used it As I look at the break in the binding, I am surprised. This is technically using Smyth-based algorithms With a decorative headband (which is good for a sketchbook), but it can be a bit of a chore. To make the signatures fit together, I had to sew them together with a string that is too brittle and broke too easily when tugged. There is glue on the spine, but it is not attached to anything. It might even be trying to adhere to a piece of white paper, but it is failing (the spine is usually glued to a strong and porous cloth so that it is With a tug, you can easily separate the decorative band from the glue. The band is attached with a piece of double-sided tape to the glue on the spine. I'm going to try applying PVA glue to the spine of this sketchbook to attach it to the piece of paper that is connecting the cover to cover, but it's such a shame to have a sketchbook with such wonderful paper to have the binding be so fragile.
Good enough to be This is a great recommendation! In the past, I've always used Arches Cold Press Watercolor blocks for my paintings, but now that I have a journal I can keep them in order and organized. I thought I would be skeptical about buying a different brand of watercolor paper when I have been using 100% cotton watercolor paper for so long, but since Etcher is 100% cotton and has good reviews, I decided to give it a try. It was so great to finally do it! There is no doubt in my mind that this paper is of the highest quality. Arches is no match for it! A huge amount of water is needed to make this paper, and it can handle There is no pilling even when I scrub it repeatedly and no matter how many times I wash it. I am impressed with the quality of this paper and the quality of the My process is simply amazing as I paint on both front and back of every page without the paper buckle or warp. This journal is also great because the cover is made out of white cotton canvas that can be painted and decorated anyway that you want. In the photos I posted, you can see that I used the inside cover of this journal as a sample of my watercolors, since, as you probably already know, watercolors reflect different colors in different conditions based on paper type and brand. Being able to see a sample of the watercolor paper on the inside cover is very useful since the inside cover is made with the same paper as the journal itself.
There has never been a sketchbook I would prefer to use more than this Etchr 100% Cotton Hot Press Sketchbook. Since June, when I discovered the stitching was coming apart in the middle of the book, I have been working on it. My letter to National Art Supply, the distributors of this amazing sketchbook, was replied to quickly. Trying to think of words to describe how delighted I am. One more will be bought once this one has been used up. I want to thank Amazon, and I want to thank National Art Supply. The news is exciting to me.
I found the paper to be so comfortable to paint on, because it's smooth and heavy, so it doesn't We will definitely buy from you You can find me at @peachiebunni on Instagram.
This is one of the few 100% cotton notebooks / journals I found, and I like it for mixing up different projects. The colors don't flow smoothly across the surface like they do on Arches or Fabriano Artistico, so I don't think I'd like to paint on it. As a rule, they tend to stay put most of the time. It is true that some people may like that characteristic, but I sometimes enjoy adding a drop to a wet area and letting it drip as it pleases. However, it is nice for washing large areas, especially when gradients are involved. Additionally, the paper buckles slightly with really wet washes I think 140lb would be a bit better, but it still buckles occasionally. It is a nice size for my desktop, though I do like the smallest one. As I paint, I am going to use it to keep track of colors mixed. In the past, I have used scraps of paper, then completely forgot to write down what I used and couldn't recall what I used the next day. That way I can keep track of them all in one place, and I can write the colors down more accurately. As it is 100% cotton and stays open on its own, it is priced a little higher for my use, but I am pleased with the product and will definitely purchase more in the future.
Although I have used both books, I don't think the white one is as impressive as the black one. I liked the texture a bit, well-textured Making it made it don't stay wet for too long and the benefit is that no cauliflower is resulting from the water and paint staying wet for too long. The first half of it has been painted I hope my enthusiasm will grow. The white book has two pages of leaves painted in smaller formats. A number of my sketchbooks are handmade and created with Arches, Fabriano, and Bee-inspired materials. This is a very rewarding paper to paint on, as it produces consistent results, so I have painted on many, many papers and enjoy their differences. This year, the winner of the Perfect Sketchbook contest is Chris. In addition to being thick and heavy, paper is beautifully textured The work stays wet for a long period of time, which is vital for any wet into wet tasks. In my opinion, any strap that fits over a sketchbook is useless. I know for sure that it was for me. Two pages of the extra-large booklet are painted by me I hate it) yummy, thick paper, and I enjoy painting on it a lot. These books are lovely. Thanks for taking the time to read my review/opinion. I hope it helps you in some way.
Many of my artist friends rave about the quality of Etchr sketchbooks and I decided to get this sketchbook. In the past few months, I have been using Arches hot press paper, but I have never tried a hot press sketchbook. There is nothing more lovely than the smoothness of the paper. It looks stunning on the paper when watercolors are used. This is definitely a sketchbook that I will buy again in the future.
