Questions & Answers

Is there a strong odor or toxic fumes in this? What is the most effective solvent for cleaning my airbrush?

It doesn't have a strong odor to me (though it does have a smell). Although it is not poisonous, it should not be consumed. I only use non-toxic products. After using STYN, I clean my ABs with ammonia, Windex, Tamiya acrylic thinner, or any other acrylic thinner. br>br>Mike br>br>Mike br>br>Mike b

Is it possible to use glass for this?

I'm not sure, but it sticks to smooth plastic and covers it well.

Is it possible to use it on metal and wood without priming?

This is a primer for the exterior of a building. I've only applied it with an airbrush to plastic. I was very pleased with the product, but I'm not sure how it would work on metal or wood with a brush.

Is this a dark grey paint?

It's slightly darker than automotive primerl when it's completely dry.

Acrylic Primer is a decent product
4/5

This primer is a good start. I've used both this and the Vallejo primer, and I prefer the Vallejo primer slightly more. Because the paint is surprisingly thick right out of the bottle, I usually add a drop or two of flow improver to keep it from clogging. I can airbrush two thin coats at 13 psi without dripping, but any higher pressure causes it to drip. Also, this is a personal reference, but the paint is a little dark for my taste, so I mixed 1:3 with it. 1 of each, as well as a white primer The end result can be seen in the attached photo. br>br>Overall, if you're already using Vallejo, stick with it; this primer will not improve your life. I like the paint, but there's no reason to buy it instead of Vallejo. If you don't want to buy your supplies locally and they don't have Vallejo, this is a good substitute. Also, some people claim that this primer is more chip resistant than Vallejo, but I can't tell the difference.

This primer is fantastic
5/5

Based on a few reviews, I decided to buy this instead of Tamiya Fine Grey primer. I was tempted to try Vallejo primers (I already use their acrylics), but I was put off by reports of peeling and inability to sand it. Some customers said Stynylrez was easy to spray and clean out of an airbrush, while others said it was far too thick to use. In the case of the latter, it turns out that once a product has frozen or has been frozen, it is no longer usable and must be discarded. Re: I used a Paasche H airbrush with an HT-100 spray gun for the former. With no problems at all, I'm going to give you a five-star rating. I couldn't believe how smoothly it went on and how quickly it dried, especially considering Tamiya's primer has a slightly rough texture. (I'm thinking of using an HT-D for the next time. ) 3 tip. ) Furthermore, water made cleanup a breeze. I also tried sanding it, and I was pleasantly surprised once more - I ended up with a fine feathered edge that was free of tearing or lifting. I've added another bottle of white wine to my collection since then. Although the cost appears to be high, I primed a 1/48 scale V-model. 2 rocket and discovered that a small amount of fuel goes a long way. I believe the bottle will last me for many model builds to come. It comes highly recommended!.

Consider thinking outside of the box
5/5

If you know how to paint, this is a great primer. If you're having problems with clogs, use a paint filter with a minimum of 100 microns. The results will astound you, and clogs will be a thing of the past. I suppose you could use thinner with the filter, but I had great success with straight primer sprayed with a single action siphon feed after passing it through a paint filter. It's nice and smooth when it comes to laying down. I'm very happy with the outcome.

I usually use Vallejo primer, which has served me well in the past, but I decided to give this one a try
3/5

I usually use Vallejo primer, which has served me well thus far, but I decided to give this primer a try after hearing that it is superior to Vallejo from several people. br>br>I vigorously shook the bottle, set my airbrush PSI to about 25, and did a test. br>The bottle said no thinner was required, so I left it thinner-free. br>br>It sprayed for about two seconds before my airbrush became clogged with coagulated paint granules. br>When I poured the paint out of the airbrush cup, I discovered it was littered with tuny granules of hardened paint and chunks of globbed-up gunk. br>When I looked inside the bottle, it was full of dried gunk around the edges. br>I used an Iwata Eclipse airbrush, which is a heavy-duty airbrush that can take a beating and has never clogged this badly. Stay away, please. br>br>.

For me, this is the best primer
5/5

Primer, I believe, is the most divisive of all cosmetics. There will be people who swear by one and swear against the other, and there will never be a consensus. This stuff is by far the best for how I paint; it goes on smoothly and evenly while still providing a solid surface. I used to use Vallejo for the majority of my models, but it started peeling after a while. Stynylrez has never caused me any problems. Everything should be simple to shoot. Shoot at a low pressure because I'm mostly painting 40k and other similar miniatures. This stuff loves to jump out of the airbrush even at low pressures like 10 psi. br>br>It's all good, and I know Badger is a good company based on my previous dealings with them.

Is there a problem with the current batch? This was available in two colors: white and grey
3/5

The white was fine, but the pigment had coagulated into a sponge-like consistency in the grey bottle. as in clump Amazon sent me a new bottle of grey primer after I processed a return. It had coagulated as well. After an hour of shaking, screening, and mixing, I attempted to resurrect the second bottle. I now have liquid and mush instead of a coagulated clump. This is a fantastic product, but I was unfortunate enough to receive two bottles from a faulty batch. I'm going to process another return, but I'm also going to speak with Badger, the manufacturer. I'm sure I'll find a suitable bottle! )br>br>Recently updated: Badger and I had a conversation. Due to the colder-than-normal weather, some of their products are freezing during shipping. Even after all these years, this primer is still fantastic. All I have to do now is order it when the weather is nicer. Rather than one star, I'm giving it three. 5 for the primer, minus 2 until the whole thing is done. It has been determined whether or not shipping will take place.

Primer that has been cured and stored in a bottle
4/5

The primer is good, but the bottle I got was not sealed. It would not completely mix even after shaking it off and on for about 30 minutes. (as seen in the photos) I sent Badger an email but got no response. Before I could use it in my airbrush, I had to thin it out a little. On the left, there's a primed "Bernie. ".

This is a nice primer that doesn't cover up details or make you look like you're wearing a mask
5/5

a good level This has a nice flow to it and works well as a primer. I used it on some N scale rolling stock kits, and it leveled out beautifully while preserving all of the detail. I used acrylic paint to paint the primed model, and it went on smoothly. I'm not a professional modeler by any stretch of the imagination. simply someone who enjoys putting together model railroad cars from scratch - However, it's a joy to work with this. Clean-up was a breeze; I didn't need any special cleaners to get my tools and fingers clean, and the primer dried quickly.
