Questions & Answers

Is this something that could be used anywhere that requires text entry? or are you only using it for instant messaging? Looking for games on XBL, entering game codes, and so on?

It is capable of completing all of these tasks. Anything can be done with the keyboard. Even on the netflix/youtube search box, there are cheat codes.

Is it possible to use your Xbox 360 to surf the internet with this?

Yes, it is possible.

Is it possible to use Xbox One controllers with this?

No, it's molded to the Xbox 360 controller and connects with a special plug.

Is there a headset included?

Because the original headset with the puck for mute and volume control cannot be used with the chatpad, it does come with a headset. By the way, the chatpad is fantastic.

Selected User Reviews For Xbox 360 Messenger Kit

It's a must-have for all LIVE applications, and it's also a hit in a lot of games
4/5

This is a wonderful addition to your wardrobe. Text entry has become standard on Xbox 360 since the addition of Twitter and Facebook to LIVE. Regrettably, the Xbox 360's on-demand services are not available. Using the controller with a screen keyboard is a pain. br>br>The device attaches to a controller and communicates with the console via a headphone interface. To get it to snap into place, I thought it would take a little more force than I expected. I can't imagine trying to take it out of a controller, which is something I'd only do if absolutely necessary. I believe a screwdriver would be required to pry it apart. br>br>The device is backlit, which means it drains the controller battery more quickly than usual. However, the device is only backlit when in use. use. Set "caps" and "Capslock" with dedicated keys, and access special symbols with dedicated keys. Finding the special symbols can be difficult at times, but once you know where to look for the common ones, it becomes second nature. br>br>Not only is the device useful for sending LIVE messages and Twitter updates, but it can also be used to enter text into games. for example, naming a file, a character, or anything else in-between a game in which you must type text Sure, you can connect a keyboard to the 360's USB port, but it's nice to have this right at your fingertips instead of having to put the controller down to pick up a keyboard. br>br>Summary: An Xbox 360 accessory that is required.

Awesome! First and foremost, I was not expecting the headset that came with the keyboard, and the headset's price also contributed to making this purchase worthwhile for the $19
5/5

At the time, Amazon was offering a 99-cent price. br>br>As another person with small hands, I don't find this to be an issue. I'm a fast typist who finds typing with my thumbs to be a breeze. The keyboard clicks into place with a little force. The included headset is then plugged into the chatpad's bottom. br>br>I also have a Logitech wireless keyboard with touchpad, but I only use it for some games because it makes switching between controller and typing easier. br>br>Very comfortable, simple to use, and adapt to. There are no exotic keys like on a fancy USB keyboard, which is a good thing because it keeps the board's face simple: the first row of numbers; a second row of letters; a comma at the far right of the third row of letters; a shift key on the left and an enter key on the right on the fourth row of letters; Backspace, left and right movement, chat, and two "modifier" keys, AMBER and GREEN, are all available. You can switch between a- and b-modes using these keys. You can add accent marks to letters using the z key on the keyboard and the other characters that are printed on them. "The original XBOX 360 Headset with volume controls on the cable connector does not work with the XBOX 360 Chatpad. " br>br> Chatpad manualbr>br>Depending on where they're supposed to be sold, chatpads are programmed with different language characters. Make certain you don't place an order for one from Hong Kong! ) I'm not sure if XBOX Live can reprogramme them.

ONLY WORKS WITH ORIGINAL CONTROLS The item arrived unpackaged in a box
3/5

br>A "Messenger Kit," which is supposed to include a headset, is also advertised. That wasn't the case. BEWARE OF THE BUYER: THIS WILL NOT WORK IF YOU DO NOT HAVE AN ORIGINAL Xbox 360 CONTROLLER.

It's one of the few accessories that you can count on! This is one of the few Xbox accessories I own (both official and third-party) that has lasted more than a year! My controllers have died, and the cables on my headset have frayed, but this chatpad has lasted nearly a year

Who is this chatpad for? br>br>Who is this chatpad for? br>br>Who is this chatpad for?

- Those who must enter complex passwordsbr>- Anyone who watches Hulu, Netflix, or other similar services on their Xboxbr>- Those who use the Twitter or Facebook applicationsbr>- Anyone who uses the Xbox to communicate with their friendsbr>br>This makes everything a lot easier on the Xbox! It adds weight to the controller, but it can be removed for gaming and then simply slid back on when you're watching a movie or looking for something. Definitely recommended! br>br>.

It's convenient and simple to use
4/5

The chatpad is a small keyboard that fits neatly beneath your 360 controller. Because it adds weight to the controller, I usually remove it when playing serious games (such as Halo), but leave it on when playing casual games. intense- Uno, for example, is an arcade game. I don't do a lot of messaging, so I usually leave it turned off and only use it when I need to type something; it's also handy for Viva Pinata when you're naming your Pinatas. The keyboard itself is excellent and simple to operate. br>br> I've got an AT. Because the T 8525 and its keyboard layout are so similar, I was able to quickly adapt to the two-in-one setup. It was made specifically for thumb typing. The keys also light up as you type, making it easier to type in the dark. When using the keyboard, I haven't noticed any faster battery drain. br>br>Overall, I like the device's performance; I'm just not sure if I've used it enough to justify the purchase. However, if you anticipate using the pad frequently, it is a must-purchase.

There is one minor issue: Edit: I purchased this chatpad in order to use it with Final Fantasy XI on Xbox
3/5

(Final Fantasy 11 Online necessitates the use of a keyboard. ) It appears that I, as well as anyone else who has purchased and used this product for Final Fantasy XI, are experiencing the same problem. It appears that the letters are stuck together. As a result, when typing phrases like "what's up," keep this in mind. Whhhhhhts up? is what I end up typing. (It also has a habit of having letters that don't work all of the time. ) It can be aggravating at times, but it's preferable to not typing at all. I'm not sure why, but it appears to work much better on the XBOX dashboard. Because all of the reviews were positive, I assumed my chatpad was defective. As a result, Amazon kindly sent me a replacement, which appears to work just as well as the original. (However, as I previously stated, I had encountered others with the same problem in Final Fantasy XI. ) Is it possible that FFXI and this chat pad have a compatibility issue? sigh. I mean, I enjoy it, but it can be aggravating at times. It's better to type than not to type at all, in either case.
