I was about to return my Chatpad because I couldn't get it to work with two different Xbox controllers. It worked fine once I got it connected properly; it has to be perfectly aligned and snapped firmly into place with a surprising amount of force. br>br>At first, I thought it was properly installed, but it wasn't. When I looked at the controller from the back, I noticed that one side of the Chatpad was flush with the controller, but the other side had a small gap; if it's aligned properly and snapped into place, the keyboard should light up when any key is pressed. br>br>I don't use chat, but I did want to make it easier to enter searches. All of the native Xbox search/configuration screens, as well as Amazon Prime, Netflix, and YouTube apps, work fine with the keyboard. It's small, almost like a Blackberry keyboard, but it's far superior to stick-on keyboards. Use the controller to click and drag.
It was a wise decision. At the time of purchase, it was $12 with free shipping. br>br>As described, a black 360 chat pad that is genuine (as far as I can tell). It's functional, and the keys are backlit. I'm using it with a wired Xbox controller on my computer. It takes some time to set up, so set aside a few hours (not including research) (if anyone is interested, I can provide a link to the process). As far as I know as of this date, the full setup only works with WIRED xbox controllers, but in the end you can use the xbox controller as a gaming controller and mouse(in and out of games) and the chatpad as a full keyboard. For this review, I am using my controller setup to type this review (as well as browse the web) without a traditional keyboard or mouse, which is pretty comfortable if you are used to xbox 360 controllers anyway.
It's a pain to type text by scrolling through letters one by one with a cursor! It's not a good idea to do that! This little gadget is a great addition to my X-ray collection. br>br> The remote control for the Xbox 360 I don't use chat, but I do own an X-Box 360. A few streaming TV accounts, as well as Box Live. This keyboard snaps on to your remote between the handles and allows you to search for games, TV shows, movies, and other content using a QWERTY keyboard. br>br>This keyboard snaps on to your remote between the handles and allows you to search for games, TV shows, movies, and other content using a QWERTY keyboard. You can take it off, but it takes a lot of force to put it back on; Because I have two remotes, one of them has the keyboard turned on all the time, which adds another two. Despite its weight of 7 ounces (76 grams), the remote is still comfortable to hold and operate. The keyboard is powered by the remote's batteries, but I haven't noticed a difference in battery life. br>br>Recommended if you use your X-Box on a regular basis. More than just games can be played in this box.
What is there not to like about this? br>br>It is possible to use this with Windows, but it requires a significant amount of learning. There are two third-party drivers that you can use to get it working if you're feeling adventurous. For wireless controllers, Google Xbox 360 Wireless Chatpad, and for wired controllers, Google Chatpad Super Driver. Then, to smooth out some of the glitches, use the xinput emulator Xboxce and a button mapper such as Xpadder. You'll have a fantastic little keyboard for your HTPC/Steambox if you figure out how to make all of that for yourself. It was a pain to set up, but it was well worth it. I just wish Microsoft would be less sluggish and add Windows support on their own.
It's super simple to use and has a plug on it so he can plug his headphones into the actual keyboard and use both at the same time! I also like how it lights up, making it perfect for nighttime use! However, fully snapping the keyboard onto the controller for use is a bit of a challenge.

This mouse and keyboard set is ideal for HTPC use. It appeals to me.
It appeals to me, but if. 5 Stars. It was precisely what I was looking for. The Chat Pad is the real deal, and I use it with my Xbox cross platform. Microsoft Xbox 360 is a video game console manufactured by Microsoft. I'm a father who enjoys video games and uses the Chat Pad to type quickly. If you're a competitive gamer, a Pro, or in the Bigs, this may feel or look a little strange on your controller at first, but if you text or talk on the phone, you'll love this Chat Pad with headset on your Wireless Handset. Read the instructions carefully; these may require a gentle nudge to click into place, but that's all there is to it. Texting and gaming are two of the most popular activities. Enjoy.
