I purchased several sets of these to create a rock wall in my son's room. I wanted to make something that would grow with him and evolve over time, rather than something that would be a one-time novelty, so I went with the standard fully stacked holes every 8" offset by 4" so that different routes can be set and the holds moved, as well as a pitched section to add some difficulty. With these holds, you won't be able to do that. The hardware isn't standard climbing apparatus size. You can't mix them because it's perfect for only their holds. The tees don't have hooks, so if you move the holds around, they won't stay in place; instead, they'll just pop out the back. That might be fine for an outdoor, unmounted set because you can simply move it to where the hold is being moved. Which is convenient because their hardware isn't available in stores, but you can't easily uninstall it to retrieve Tees that shook or pushed out when you moved a hold on a real rock wall. br>These are probably great for small children, but I wouldn't recommend them for children over the age of seven because they will outgrow the design and become bored with the lack of ability to change things in a matter of weeks. br>I also wouldn't recommend it for an indoor wall because you can't intermix with higher quality/difficulty rock holds over time, so you're installing something that will only be used for a short period of time. br>I'm going to send these back and try a different brand. While I'm attempting to save the faces of the rock walls.

It was difficult to choose among the many rock climbing holds available on Amazon, even among the highest rated. This one was chosen because (1) it had a slightly wider tolerance for the backboard thickness it could support, (2) it was well reviewed, (3) the holds appeared to be of a good size range between the huge oversized ones and the smaller ones, and (4) all of the necessary hardware was included. I wished I had a few more at the end, but it all worked out in the end.

**UPDATE: These have been up for two weeks now. They've been 5 years and still look as good as the day we put them in! *
br>I used these for a tree in our backyard and they are perfect; after doing some research, I discovered that they are the best value (price per piece). I used 2 because I couldn't go back because I didn't have access to the back. Instead of bolts, I used 5" deck screws, but the stainless collar was still used through the front because the head of my deck screws was narrow enough to fit through without it. We'll be ordering more soon because the neighborhood kids are now invading our yard!.

This is high-quality material. On a 4 X 8 wall, it's the ideal number of holds for a small child. The fact that all of the holds have the same distance between screw holes was appealing to me because it meant there was less room for error. They came with high-quality screws as well. Every single one of them went up without a hitch. Great deal at a fraction of the cost of what you'd find in a local hardware store.

2x4s and glued board were used to construct it. I bought these and another brand for a variety of uses. I liked the other set a little better than this one. By the time we'd drilled about half of the holes, the drill bit was starting to dull, but it still worked. These holds are textured on the front, but not on the sides, which are actually quite smooth. It's not the best thing to grab onto. The shapes aren't as varied as the other set we have, and they're all smaller, but I prefer the bolts and backs that came with this set. I would have been satisfied with these if I hadn't already purchased both, but since I did, I would not recommend them and would have preferred two sets of the other.

My almost 6-year-old son, on the other hand, Even at a young age, the desire to climb everything persists. We have a tree swing with things to climb up on our front tree, so we ordered these for him to climb as well. (My husband keeps all of our branches trimmed high so that he can't simply climb a tree. ) This solves the problem, and the kid is climbing the tree every time you pass our house! Outside, and not in front of the television!.

It worked fine, was simple to set up, and the hardware was of good quality. There are only three shapes in five colors, which isn't as much variety as I had hoped for, but you can arrange them vertically, on an angle, or in other ways to increase the difficulty. 18 was used on a 3'x 8' wall and worked well for a 3-year-old and a 6-year-old.
