My two year old received these as a gift. This was the last thing I received During the first day, we saw three pieces of food that were very sharp and had cracks around the edges. The bites were not bit by my son. Playing with these has been supervised partly because he knows how to "pretend eat" and partly because there are only a few pieces. It is likely he could have cut himself along the edges had he not been supervised. Just look at how sharp that When I opened the box, I disposed of one pizza slice that had a completely cracked surface. I would not recommend them for younger children because they look adorable, but they are not durable. Despite my disappointment over that item, I didn't feel ripped off. I like it a lot! Eight slices have a top and bottom that are melded together. It is made of semi-soft, seamed plastic. It is much more enjoyable for my grand daughter to buy it and then serve it whole on a regular nine" plastic plate, used for cookouts. The pieces of pizza lay flat together, and can be separated for each guest. The models have tiny holes on both sides. However, I simply hold my finger over the holes, so mold doesn't form inside. Furthermore, I find using a non-abrasive sponge to wash the models is much more effective than using iodine. It works just as well as a nontoxic cleaner designed for cleaning toys, bedding, furniture, etc. for infants and toddlers. We use larger ones from another set since the cereal boxes and other boxes as well as the cans are a bit small for the play kitchen. The crackers, carrots, and peas in their own small boxes are a big hit with our Little girl, who loves taking them in and out of their containers. This set is beyond my expectations and I am thrilled with my grandaughter's love for it. Even so, we'd still love to receive an avocado.
