2x the size of the original map
There aren't 120 pieces in the collection. Because some of New England's small Northeastern states are combined on one piece, the total is less than 50.
When finished, the piece is 19"L x 13"H.
It's a little late for a baby at this point. Vtech learning toys come highly recommended by me. They've got a really cool flashlight! Colors that aren't too bright, musical, and educational options are available. My toddler has had his for almost two years (he was given it when he was a baby) and he still enjoys it. He uses it to create shadow puppets that he hangs on the wall.

I have a 6-year-old autistic son, and Learning Resources has provided him with some of his favorite educational toys. I bought this for him because I wanted him to begin learning states and capitals in a fun way. He enjoys it, but I believe it could be improved. I'll begin with the disadvantages: If you're going to put this on the fridge, make sure it has a wide, non-curved door. It barely fits on ours (as seen in the photos), and Maine is constantly teetering on the precipice. If you have small children, I think we'll move this downstairs to our wall-mounted white board. br>br>If they get their hands on it, they'll quickly destroy the pieces. My 2-year-old nephew spent the day at my house, and several of the states are now bent and stained with teeth marks (see photos). br>br>I wish the capitol names were printed on the magnets so we could learn capitols without the paper map. The paper map is heavily creased, and some of the magnets have a difficult time adhering to the creases. This has improved over time, but there is still a lot of room for improvement. It would be ideal if the map outline page came with its own set of magnets to keep it in place. br>br>In addition, because of their small size, a number of New England/North Eastern states are grouped together. I understand why they did it, but it's still a disappointment. The positive aspects are that it is large and suitable for small hands. The magnets have a great deal of power. Each one is well-made, bright and colorful, and depicts a characteristic of the state. This is suitable for people of all ages. br>br>Overall, I like it, but it could be a lot better. I hope this information is useful to others. This was purchased at full price from me.
year- This was put together by my grandson (with suggestions) and he had a lot of fun doing it. We found that the back of a metal cookie sheet worked well. The puzzle is well made and has a strong magnetic back.
Bright, well-rendered, glossy pieces make this a very nice, high-quality puzzle. My only gripe is that the magnets are so powerful that lifting them off the magnetic surface (in this case, the refrigerator) is a challenge. Unfortunately, while attempting to break the strong magnetic seals and lift the pieces, you end up "picking at" the boarders and edges, causing the top cardboard layer to peel away from the bottom magnetic layer! Unfortunately, the glue that holds the cardboard to the magnets isn't as strong as the magnets themselves. I've already had to glue the top layers of three pieces back down after they separated or peeled away from the magnets beneath them after only a few uses. I'm hoping this isn't a recurring issue and that the most vulnerable ones have been addressed. Otherwise, I adore the puzzle and am hoping that our family will be able to enjoy it for many years to come.
Can be customized by cutting! Great state map to help you figure out which states belong together! I chose this one because, unlike most map puzzles, the background does not reveal where the pieces belong. The outline of the states is printed on the backgrounds of most other puzzles, making it far too easy to find the states. My only criticism is that the smaller New England states (RI, CT, MA, NJ, DE, VT, CT) had to be cut and separated into separate pieces. I also removed the border edges around the United States so that my son would not recognize it as a border state. (On the outside edges of those states, there is a gold decorative border. ) The good news is that cutting this foam puzzle with scissors is relatively simple. br>br>With this puzzle, my son was able to quickly learn his states. It is something I strongly suggest. I've never had a problem with the pieces falling off my refrigerator door because they're magnetic.
Learning Resources has a lot of great products that I really like. This isn't the first time this has happened. If I can get my kids to do something with sticks, whether it's magnetic, colorful, or something else, I'll be happy. It's something I'd like to see happen. I like how magnetic it is. We had a puzzle map before, but it didn't last long. br>br>This includes a state outline. Although, when putting the pieces together, it may be a little tight in some areas - My son, in particular, enjoys it. This is a wonderful addition to our homeschooling resources.
I went to start putting the states on our magnet board in the correct order, but many of the pieces are warped in such a way that the state will not stick to our magnet board even if the map is removed. The page has been added. Because the back of the magnet piece is concave, it only touches the magnet board along the edge, and it falls off the magnet board immediately or shortly after I place it. I usually enjoy the Learning Resources products we receive, but I'm going to return these state magnets and replace them with a traditional USA puzzle.
We chose this one based on the Learning Resources name after reading reviews on several of these types of magnetic maps. The box was delivered in a padded envelope with dented corners. I decided to keep it because the magnets inside were undamaged by the dented box. Many magnets were creased and bowed away from the magnetic surface right out of the box, so that when they were placed on the fridge, the edges didn't touch. Those pieces had to be bent backwards gently. This is something I don't think will last very long, which is disappointing. Aside from the poor quality, it's a fun activity to do with school-aged children who are learning their states' capitals.
