Yes, we've done it, and the puzzle pieces are thick enough to work on a carpet. We had carpeting throughout our apartment. My child used to assemble it on the carpeted floor as well. It's probably not the best location, but it'll do.
The dimensions of this puzzle are 18" high by 49" wide, which I had out today. 75" long. This puzzle is a hit with my three and six-year-old children. The images are large, and they can discuss a variety of dinosaurs.

I'm irritated that I purchased this lovely puzzle for my 4-year-old son, who is obsessed with dinosaurs. The puzzle pieces have become warped (we've only used it three times). Because they aren't laying flat, my son is becoming "frustrated," and he is hitting all of the pieces repeatedly in an attempt to get them to lay flat. This is supposed to be relaxing, but it's just aggravating my son. I had hoped for much more for the price. I've included a photo of him "flattening" it by laying his entire body on top of it.
This was a present for a three-year-old girl. We had a lot of fun putting this together because she's a dinosaur fan. The pieces are well-made and go together smoothly. After we were finished, she was sliding across the completed puzzle, and I was afraid it would fall apart, but it surprisingly did not! The image is crystal clear, and I like how large it is. Kids enjoy floor puzzles. And, with over 40 pieces, this puzzle is both challenging and not too easy. Also, the name Melissa and Doug made me feel better about buying because their products tend to last longer than others. I was not dissatisfied with the outcome! My six-year-old grandson is an expert puzzle solver. They don't have the authority to claim that this is only for children aged three and up. It was almost too much for him, and he's done puzzles for a long time; at the very least, I'd recommend five and up with assistance.
I strongly advise you to read this book. We've bought M's puzzles twice now. 3 M is now ours to keep. Puzzles with the letter D. My nephew is three years old, and the size is ideal for him. He will require assistance to get started, but once he sees the picture, he will want to complete it on his own. The colors are vibrant, the pieces are sturdy, and we think this is a fantastic addition to his playtime; highly recommended if you have a toddler in your life.
These puzzles are a huge hit with my kids. I like to collect different ones and repeat them. When I buy Melissa's products, I expect them to be of high quality. Doug and this set of puzzles did not let us down! br>I did have a couple of puzzle pieces fall apart, but I attribute that to my rowdy children rather than the manufacturer.
At the same time as I ordered this one, I ordered two more Melissa and Doug floor puzzles. All three were delivered on time, but the other two were brand new and shrink wrapped. This one, on the other hand, was not in plastic and had dirt all over the box, which wasn't a big deal until I opened it and saw that the inside picture of the puzzle, which names all of the dinosaurs in the puzzle, was stained. Thankfully, only a few pieces of the puzzle were slightly damaged. In addition, there was dirt, dust, and someone's hair in the box, which was extremely disgusting. I didn't have the time or patience to return and exchange this for a brand new one because it was a gift, but I'm disappointed.
This puzzle was a hit with my five-year-old son. The first few times he needed help, but now he happily puts it together on his own several times a day. The items are well-made and durable. It's ideal for puzzle fans under the age of ten.
My three-year-old son enjoys putting puzzles together. He wanted one with scary dinosaurs, so this one was ideal: excellent quality, crystal clear image, and vibrant colors.
