My nephew's favorite motorized Thomas trains fit through, and they're on the larger side of the Thomas line; tall chuggington trains, basic department store trains, and even square Toby fit through. We're in good spirits. I hope these photos help you get a sense of scale.
Before deciding on this one, we looked at a few different train tunnels. My son adores the wooden magnetic trains that are replicas of existing public transportation (such as SEPTA, MTA, and NJ Transit trains). In comparison to "standard" magnetic wooden trains, these are typically larger. My son's favorite train is a SEPTA train, which is taller, longer, and heavier than "typical" trains, and he was getting frustrated because they wouldn't fit through the tunnels included in track sets. I'd propped them up on scraps of track, but he'd inadvertently knock over my "MacGyver'd" setup, causing him to become enraged once more, so I needed to find a new tunnel. This one is ideal because it is longer and taller than most bridges, as well as more sturdy, making it more difficult for a toddler to knock over. I've included a photo of the SEPTA train next to one of the taller Target trains to give you an idea of scale.
So it's been two years since I purchased this set for my three-year-old, and he still enjoys it. I also added a KirKraft set from a Costco xmas special, but the quality of the KK wood was far inferior to Orbrium (much smoother and less likely to have connectors break). My child can be rough with the pieces, but this brand has stood the test of time. If your child loves trains as much as mine does, I would also recommend purchasing accessories separately.
On top of the birthday cake, my 3-year-old wanted a tunnel. On top of a supermarket cake with a Thomas the Train theme, the tunnel looked fantastic. We cleaned it up, and it's now one of the most popular train sets in the collection. It's sturdy, and I've seen it used as a step or a mini-seat. I put an end to it, but the tunnel appears to be unaffected. br>The design is the same on both sides, but it's a good design that hasn't worn out after a few months of hard use. wear-and-tear on the wood, as well as soft dents. br>It's a fantastic deal- also a line I haven't seen any other similar tunnels for a lower price, even plain colored nice looking tunnels. br>I taped a plastic Thomas Trackmaster adapter to another wooden piece, and the motorized toys run through the tunnel nicely as well.
This tunnel is well-made and compatible with track from other manufacturers (Thomas, BigJigs, Melissa). Doug, for example). The fact that the male connector is solid wood rather than a plastic piece attached to the track is one of my favorite features of this tunnel. br>The tunnel is tall enough for most engines and cars (Thomas engines don't have any issues), but extra-large engines and cars will have difficulty. Tall and loaded cars may not be able to pass (the Melissa, for example). Even without the animals, Doug farm cars are too tall).
Skills in cause and effect! Trains are a big hit with our 20-month-old grandson! Each and every train. He has a battery-operated Thomas the Tanker, as well as wooden track sets from Brio and Melissa and Doug. This tunnel was purchased for him, and he absolutely adores it! In addition to being entertaining, it also teaches cause and effect. When other parts of the track are causing him problems, this is a good distraction. (However, his fine motor skills are improving!). ) I'm in love with this tunnel!.
This passageway, specifically. This is a nice little tunnel that's not too expensive. Unfortunately, the quality does not match that of our Brio and Thomas accessories (which all arrived in excellent condition). As you can see in my photo, this tunnel was scratched and chipped when it arrived. Given the low cost, it's not a big deal, but unlike our other accessories, I don't think this one will be passed down.
