Although I don't know why my son loves it, it seems to be a big hit among him. Playthings of this kind are made of plastic and have I survived the late 80s and 90s too, when my grandparents survived the Lead-Pain era, my parents survived the 60s and 70s, and my grandparents survived the Lead-Pain era. It has been decades since Lionel has manufactured trains. You shouldn't stop your kids from having a fun and awesome train ride because you are afraid the sky will fall. It is a train, it is well built, and it has easily survived being played with by a 2 and a 4 year old. If you get cancer from your phone or computer, then your kid will get cancer from The state of California is a joke!
There are no tracks compatible with trackmaster, if you are referring to those.

Selected User Reviews For Lionel Thomas & Friends Ready-to-Play Set, Battery-powered Model Train Set with Remote
My Lionel trains were made of metal a very long time ago, ran on third-rail metal tracks and were powered by a wall-mounted transformer when I was a child. It offered plenty of options, but children would need to be older to appreciate such a large amount of complexity. This mostly plastic train set delighted my granddaughter, 3, 1/2 years old, and her 4 year old aunt, who was visiting from the US. It is (yes. I have a granddaughter whose father has a youngster who is four years old The sister of my old school. removed the box from the train set, snapped together the plastic track, and installed six C-ottavo cars, There were batteries in the engine and three AAA batteries in the remote control, so this toy was ready to go. Batteries need to be installed or replaced using a Philips-style tool It is designed to be removed with a head screwdriver (not included) which prevents a child from doing so. It does not come with batteries. It serves as an "ON" indicator when there is a small blue dome on the top of the engine The engine's power is turned off by the "OFF" switch. The engine will not travel until it is linked to the wireless remote control. However, the constant beeping will alert the driver that the engine is drawing power from the C-cell There are cells. Using the remote controls on the device is easy for a child. This large "ON-" slide is designed to be viewed from above The "OFF" switch on the side of the remote allows it to link to the engine and activate the other controls on the remote. If the train is turned clockwise from the neutral position, a colorful knob at the top of the remote causes it to move forward. In the counterclockwise direction, turn the knob When the train is rotating counterclockwise from the neutral position, it reverses and runs backward. If the knob is turned towards or away from the direction of travel, then the train will travel faster. Both girls had an almost immediate grasp of how to operate this control. Despite being fast enough to attracted significant interest, the train could not be turned upward enough to lead to an accident. As you press the remote control buttons you will hear other sounds such as a conductor's voice, bell and whistle. When the engine is paused (stopped) by operating the knob on the remote you will hear steam engine sounds that are similar to those heard at stops between stations. It is understandable for a child who has never been around a live steam engine to have a hard time understanding why the train engine is making noises when it is stopped, as was the case with these girls. It's no surprise Thomas the Train has a face that can be substituted for a number of It is clear to see that these girls were fascinated when the train traveled down the track. Although they are often seen sharing toys as they play together, this time they wrestled over the remote control, which was a clear indication of their fascination. An adult will be required to assemble the kit. Young children as well as some adults might need some practice to get a solid grip on the plastic tracks and a perfect connection between the cars and engine. In the photo, you can see that the track works just fine on carpet. Moving the tracks to a new location can be done with little difficulty, provided they are handled gently. After running the train for several hours, the C- train decided to halt Seeing that the cells were still going strong, alkaline batteries were doing well. In our experiment, the toy turned out to have a surprising amount of sophistication, which held the attention and interest of two appreciative.
With three ready-to-play sets, my kids now have a lot to choose from. There is a difference between Thomas and the other two. There are no pivot wheels on the tenders So, it is very easy to get off track. We purchased additional pieces over time because my kids enjoy making a big track out of the track pieces in the 3 sets. This is something I never would have purchased if I had known about it first.
This is something we really like. There are 3 sounds and you can set the speed that Thomas moves at. Similarly, it can also do the The track is moderately long and we can come up with it fairly easily. The last time Ives used C batteries was some years ago, so I had to buy some, but I'm impressed with how it worked. It is a huge hit with my 4-year-old.
The problem is that mom cannot give it a perfect rating. When you attach the track pieces, there is a great deal of pressure to apply this is great as the track stays together when you play, but the opposite must be done if you choose to separate the track pieces. The driver makes a lot of noise, both when he is driving and when he speaks or blows The engine is a little heavy with the batteries in place so be careful picking it up with a small child when it is plugged in. I wish it had a volume control for my sanity, but my kid loves hearing it. I think the train derails more often as a result of bad track configuration than the kid. The kid loves driving the train, but it derails a lot. It was fun to build tunnels and other things with foam blocks. have, however, put it back after a day of playing because it gets so loud and she wants it to run for hours and hours. I, however, cannot handle that in the moment but when I bring it out again she will be thrilled to see it. In addition, I would recommend buying additional track, at least one package of straight and one of curved, to enable you to make a decent size for a Also, as far as I can tell, the power doesn't shut off automatically if the kid walks away while the machine is running.
The Lionel Polar Express I bought our son for Christmas is of a better quality than the Thomas train we bought.
In addition to the AAA batteries that go into the remote, this product requires six C batteries that go into the engine None of the three types are included in the three boxes. It would have been nice to have ordered them together, but I was disappointed. My train cannot run now until the 6C batteries have arrived. I do not know how much longer I will have to wait until they arrive. There are 6 C batteries extra in this product, making it more expensive, and this should be clearly stated. There's a very good chance you'll miss it.
There is no doubt that Thomas is heavy and of high As with a toy train for kids, the train is made of plastic. This is a favorite of my 6 year old. While the toys are durable (but not the tracks), they cannot withstand a great deal of abuse. Despite the fact that I used elastic to hold them together previously. I love it. The tracks of the same design will click with each other.
It has now been five months since I last posted. The batteries are still running strong, we use dollar tree batteries and they last a very long time, many days and hours.
This train and its track are very durable, and I was very happy to find that out. In spite of the rough play by a 3 year old, the track isn't broken after snapping together firmly, but it's flexible enough not to be brittle. It is quite easy to load up the train cars with small toys or blocks with no effect on the train's pulling abilities. Kids under the age of 10 will need guidance from their parents to get back on track. It is easy to remove and replace the roofs of the train cars. I am extremely pleased with the quality. The game would be perfect if two things happened. One, the volume of the speaker that is in the engine might not be adjustable, as many have complained. The dial should be able to click when it is at the stop position, so the user knows the dial has stopped. The train does not stop when our grandson turns the dial beyond the stop position since the train takes a pause after the stop position is reached, so he thinks it is stopped when it is not.
