So far, I have two different ones because one has an adult female ghost mantis in it, and another has an adult male sphodromantis lineola in it. As soon as it's going to rain, I put instar 5 Monarch caterpillars that grow in my garden inside them so they can get wet These caterpillars hang and build their chrysalis out of the elements. Unlike larger cages, milkweed grows next to them all the time, which works better than larger cages. 1 cat per 5 cats is what I use. There are some really cool cages here that I really like. I'm sure they would be fantastic for isolating a sick caterpillar as well.

A great way to view caterpillars and chrysalises is through the clear side. It was only a little bit disappointing that three butterflies were released within a few hours of each other, apparently knocking the enclosure on its side and damaging one of them. Even though I thought the pyramid shape would be easier to handle, I think the square shape would be less likely to tip.

It is usually a cube shaped cage I order, but I saw these and thought they looked cute and were However, I have not yet had a chance to see if there is enough room for an eclosion of a monarch butterfly, but I wanted to show the size difference from the cube to the lantern. While the cube is certainly smaller, the price is the same and it appears to be as durable as the cube. There is no explanation for the increase in insect cage prices with the size decreasing.
