Small enough that I can use it for one or two monarch caterpillars To keep the eggs safe, put them in eggs. I would recommend getting a larger cage if you want to raise a lot more eggs, so they can find space when they emerge.
Planting Milkweed plants around the house was one of the things we did. After the Monarchs laid eggs on the plants, the caterpillars later developed. A few milkweed plants were planted in pots in the habitat, and caterpillars were brought in from the plants outdoors and placed on the plants. The animals consumed a lot of food and grew to form chyrstalises at the top of the habitat. After a while, they transformed into butterflies. We let fly as we let out the cage. If you have larvae, what kind of butterfly do you have? Put the larvae on the parts of the host plants that have not been treated with pesticides. I wish you the best of
In Naples, Florida where I currently live, it is usually hot and muggy all the time, but we are in a rainy season, so there is a lot We just keep the habitats outside most of the time, and they work well. When we are having a storm, we take them indoors, but outside in a safe area away from the strong winds. The habitats may be taken inside and work fine. But if you hope to find a Monarch butterfly who will lay eggs or release a newly hatched butterfly, the location must be outdoors.

It's a no-brainer I love how easy it is to use this enclosure. In my opinion, what I like most about it is that it seems to be a comfortable home for caterpillars. Previously, I did not have much success supporting them. Using this enclosure, I can enjoy watching them through the large clear window, one of the entire net walls is a door with a two-directional zipper so you can open it either way, and you can watch as the caterpillars attach to the net ceiling and hatch from the eggs. We watched the caterpillars with the grandbabies and they LOVED it! The same goes for me! The monarch butterfly population is suffering at the moment, so it sure would be great if everyone had one of these and a few milkweed plants around to help. Voici a tip On the floor of the enclosure, place paper towels. Suppose I were to clean out the caterpillar poo daily, and I preferred to pick up a piece of poo at a time rather than pick out the paper towel and shake it out. This is a fantastic product! I highly recommend it!.
I raise monarchs and tried other nets. It is nice because it has a special zipper section that allows it to be opened and closed even if a chrysalis forms near it. There isn't a lot of discernible difference between the clear and the cloudy sides. My general approach to opening the zipper is to keep an eye out until I notice a caterpillar growing large enough to become a chrysalis or notice it is moving quickly. It is only after they have completed their next stage that they will leave the milkweed. There is nothing wrong with it, but I wish the bottom was a bit more sturdy than Also, I am disappointed with the Instruction picture on the cover, which depicts monarchs on plants of unknown origins. Milkweed is their only food source. This concerns me that people may not understand that milkweed is the only food they can eat. It appears to be photoshopped, but it is still misrepresenting the monarchs.
As a monarch raiser, I wanted a little cube to hold the tiny (1st instar) monarch chicks I hatch from eggs. As soon as possible, I always use a fine make-up brush to gently move them on top of a potted milkweed so that they can get on with their work without being My plant is small, so there isn't a lot of root system growth at 1st and 2nd instars. Getting into the habitat is quite difficult due to the size of the door. It was crucial that I avoided accidentally knocking one of my littles off a leaf as I navigated the plant. The spray would be ineffective if you intend to use it for growing on a relatively large plant. Plants that are small work here very well! For those who are not seasoned rearers of large cats (caterpillars), I would recommend this product for smaller cats. If you are raising more than two monarchs at a time, buy a medium size. Other than that, its a really good quality product with a protective covering over the zipper, so none of the little ones might get hurt if they wander onto it accidentally. Make sure to wash the inside with mild soapy water, rinse, and air dry in the sun before adding your cats. The inside had an industrial scent, so you must clean it first.
As we order monarch butterflies every year in the summer, this will be a great option for us! In the mesh there are very small holes so so small that I don't think baby caterpillars will be able to fit through them. Also included is a bottom made out of plastic so that they can clean up after themselves. As the zipper is also lined with mesh, any small caterpillars that are caught in it are less likely to get zipped up. enjoy the fact that the butterfly cage is completely open on one side for ease of access and releasing the butterflies when they hatch.
Our RESTRCLUD Butterfly Habitat cage is a great habitat for Gulf Fritillaries. There is an abundance of Monarch habitat in our area - The Gulf Fritillary should be placed in the small one. The purple passion plants in our front yard are where the butterflies lay their It's dirt in a double cottage cheese tub, water, and then leaves from the Passion Flower vine (the vine is too big for grow fine when they are stuck into the dirt. We bring in the caterpillars, usually attached to a leaf, and place them inside the container with the leaf that is in water. It is very convenient for the Gulf Frittillaries to climb up to the top of the 12 inch habitat and make their chrysalis as they eat the leaves. As they eat the leaves, we stick in more leaves that we remove from the vine. The chrysalis I have in my habitat in the cottage cheese containers and the watery ones are currently growing Bins used to store dirt. This is a great way to pass the time- This butterfly is truly precious and beautiful.
I think this product is good. It served its purpose well and hasn't let me down. Changing one thing would be the only thing I would change. Would have been nice if it was a little As a result, it leaves little space for the plants that butterflies need once they hatch. Apparently, it did not work for monarch butterflies but it did for painted lady It did not fit in the small enclosure, as monarchs need a lot of milkweed, which requires a big plant. I'm still happy with the item itself though. With the clear side, you can see the butterflies clearly, and my girls absolutely.
You can climb to your heart's content! The photo shows him lying in the top upper right of the picture. am not responsible for setting it up and managing it The top of the screen has a heat lamp There are two of them At the bottom, I added a plastic $3 tray, I tacked (sewed) small washers inside of the habitat where I needed to attach the driftwood and I placed a pair of small binder clips to hang it from. A couple of small eye hooks were screwed into the lumber and the chairs were suspended You can use small plastic ornament hooks and picks to display your ornaments Make sure you put the hooks in and shut the door The washers are covered with fake vines. Now that he has lots of room, you can move him anywhere you want Buying a smaller temporary cage meant less money spent on him, and when he was little we didn't have to buy him a huge cage. There is plenty of room for growth.
I have owned several brands of butterfly net cages over the years, and found RestCloud to be the best. What is it about RestCloud that many other manufacturers don't match? There is no comparison between RestCloud and other manufacturers in their zipper reinforcement. The butterfly cage zipper is the key to trouble-free maintenance, since it is opened hundreds of times in the butterfly raising season and is cleaned several times. No zippers have failed or torn on me since I started using All these net butterfly cages are fragile, as I already mentioned, but I have come to find through my years of experience that RestCloud cages hold up better than anything else.
