I am terribly disappointed by this product though. However, this cage didn't live up to expectations. One did not measure 12 x 12 x 12 and the other did not. Each of them was ten years old. The dimensions are 5 x 11 inches. Measurements are 25 inches by 11 inches. I received an odd combination of 5 or some other odd cube that wasn't the 12" cube I had to work with a very stiff mesh on the sleeve, making it extremely difficult to close the sleeve and work with it. even though the floor space in their cages is just short between 1" and 1", they lack a decent amount of floor space within their sleeved cages. A lot of Restcloud cages have been bought by me. I think this is the first time I have bought cages that are not exactly what was Since this is a relatively new product for them, I thought that with their experience they would make the same cages that don't have sleeves as the ones they make for 12 x 12 x 12 cages. These were not the cases, unfortunately.
It is rectangular and larger than the square version I have. Raising monarch butterflies in this way was a great idea. My hatchlings didn't lose anything. The mesh is thin enough that I didn't need to worry about it falling apart. It is very convenient to put and take things out of this bag because the zipper door opens very wide. Despite not having enough milkweed to feed all of my caterpillars at once, I was able to raise seven caterpillars as they emerged. It was only the "clear" plastic window that was a pet peeve of mine. There was no point to it. There were so many wrinkles in it that I couldn't see through Through the photos, I have attempted to illustrate this. When I looked through the mesh, I was able to see my critters much more clearly than when I looked Yes, I tried using a hair dryer, but it didn't work. More than a month passed with the cage sitting outside on the porch with wrinkles that refused to flatten. Further, I cannot seem to figure out how to fold this back into its Can anyone show me a video of that method?.
The best way to raise monarchs. Through this habitat, we were able to raise close to 20 monarch butterflies this summer. It was well built and the materials were of good quality. The container was even big enough for me to fit a 3 gallon milkweed plant inside and still have plenty of room left over. As a result, I ended up purchasing a second one to put the chrysalises in so that the caterpillars wouldn't crawl all over them and knock them down. Here are some tips I would like to share with anyone interested in raising monarchs or other butterflies on A thick towel at the bottom of the habitat once your caterpillars have transformed into chrysalises would be a good idea. They will fall on something soft if any of them come down or get knocked down, thus being less likely to be injured if they hit the ground hard.
Until we release my monarch caterpillars and butterflies, I have already purchased 3 of these habitats to house them until they are released! I feel comfortable leaving my habits outside without fear of other small animals getting into them and harming my baby butters since the mesh is small enough! Besides being great value, the product is also very high quality! Please accept my sincere thanks!.
My garden has shown me how to raise monarch caterpillars, so I purchased this for them. When they first emerged they were in a plastic small animal cage, which was fine but I wanted them to have a larger cage when they became Because I didn't need to use the sleeves for cleaning, I can't comment on its quality, but it would be a very nice feature if the butterfly larvae and caterpillars were kept in the I have silly caterpillars on the zipper on top of the box to hang from, so it will be interesting to see what I will do next time they emerge if they do not all emerge at the same time so that I can remove them from the top together. My overall experience with my purchase has been very positive, and I can recommend it to anyone who wants to see how butterflies change. I was delighted with the price and the speed of delivery.
There is no doubt in my mind that these butterfly cages are great. The three I have are here with me. I like how sturdy they are, how well the zipper works, and how the clear vinyl panel on one side lets me watch the progress of my There is ample room in each cage for two or three leaves of milkweed. Using separate cages, I separate the caterpillars into small, medium, and large sizes. Keeping them away from each other is a good idea, since they're so hungry and sometimes accidentally eat each other when they're hungry.
When first working with butterflies, here are a few tips. All in all, I was extremely satisfied with the outcome and the purchase.
I have raised monarch caterpillars for the first time. Easy to view from inside. The only thing since then is that it's only been five years There are six days left. Having a zipper means it is easier to open and exchange milkweed plants. To ensure the plant does not become squashed, it is tall so it isn't crushed. Weaved so you can see inside, and at the same time keep bugs and lizards out, the netting is transparent.
