It has been done before, and every morning they wake up and run to see how it is going. The only issue I had with this is the cost of the caterpillars was included in the price of the set the last time I did this with my kids. After we sent the post card, we received caterpillars a few days later. Upon requesting the caterpillars, you will now have to pay a small handling fee. Christmas presents this year included several of these sets, which I had to add $7 to. So that the parents would not have to pay for the gift I got for their kids, I put 95 in each box. It would have been nice if I had paid more up front so that when I gave this as a gift, the kids would have been able to request caterpillars for a truly free gift.

I had a great time! Despite my daughter's lack of interest in the kit, she absolutely adored it! Within a week of ordering our caterpillars, we received them and began the breeding I was so impressed with how engaged my 3 year old was! There is no hassle for the parent to handle just let the caterpillars do their thing, and when they have become cocoons, you move them to the sanctuary, and they will be butterflies in due course

Our team of scientists gave these larvae a few pieces of watermelon a day for a few days, then freed them. Having this special moment with her was very sweet. After a long day at work, I ran the sanctuary through the washer on a rinse cycle and threw it in the recycling bin. Another round of fun is waiting for us! This is a highly recommended product.

I got all five butterflies to hatch in this project. The only reason I rated it 4 stars was that there was nothing mentioned about the hottest temperatures they will survive. I released them and only one was alive. There was a temperature of 111 degrees That may have been too hot for them. ( I had no idea. There was a sunny day and the chicks were ready to hatch after being hatched for 3 days. My plan is to do it again once the weather cools off. There was a lot of pain in my heart and feeling horrible that they didn't In fact, my kids handled it much better than I did. Therefore, it is important to consider the weather.

It was fascinating to watch the caterpillars spin their cocoons and emerge from them as they emerged from their cups. My curious preschooler was able to learn a lot from this project that was really easy to make. When we finally released them, he thought it was the coolest thing ever. Only one of them was able to open its wings even though it was alive and appearing to be doing well when it emerged from the cocoon. In the same way that the others were released, it was released as well. When the butterfly was trying to emerge, my little fella knocked the cocoon off the lid. I don't think the product was defective, but rather the fact that my little fella knocked the cocoon off by accident. All kids should check out this book!.

While most of this product is still constructed well, over the past several years it has shrunk in size, so it is still tall, but quite I would also like to see this kit be offered with choice of the two major butterfly life cycle models that are released at school - During the time of monarchs, painted ladies were common. This product made me very sad since this company and company's products are what I love. I have supported your products for years and still love your company.

My husband and I are actually purchasing our second one of these, so I am really excited to have one available in a larger size. She has used her original one for over 5 years, and at 11, she still uses it almost daily during the warmer months. She has undergone a lot of use, so I was amazed at how well it handled all of it. Despite so many years of use, the zipper on the door continues to function as it did on day one, the fold down pop up shape continues to function, and the material has held up well. Even though her first one is five years old, it's starting to look a bit dirty and has a few small holes in the net here and there, but I never would have expected it to last that long. She would absolutely love this in the larger size, so I had to get another one for her as soon as I saw it. I like the fact that I can put the butterflies or other bugs in this and watch them up close without harming them and see what they would do in their Several teachers have asked for a copy of one of these after her sharing the items she has found with classes. She has also taken hers to school several times to share the information she has discovered with them. It will entertain your child for hours if you have this for your child, they will enjoy the outdoors.

A few days after writing this review, the company contacted me and sent me a voucher which allowed me to order free caterpillars. My initial email was answered after a couple of weeks, but they do make good on their promise to resolve In terms of the net, it's simple enough, but it's hard to reach inside without disturbing anything since the top unzips only halfway. In addition, I advise that when ordering caterpillars you be prepared for them to die most of them. A picture on the website shows you receiving tiny caterpillars that grow until they form a When I paid an extra $3 for a second cup of caterpillars, I received 10 caterpillars that were all fully grown, with seven of them dying right away or the next day.

and I did not enjoy the extra cost! Free caterpillars would have been nice! Shipping is $7, so you pay no more than that. The 95th! It would cost $17 to reorder caterpillars for the kit to be used more than once. I will try to locate them locally if it is possible. You'll also have to pay for shipping if you spend over 99! The kit was $30 to begin with, so I think it's kind of expensive.
