If you feel unsure about whether to use paper towels or not, place a piece of paper on the bottom of your butterfly habitat. The chrysalis I created only had one escape the paper, but it still survived and emerged. As much as possible, keep your hands off them.
A piece of paper can be inserted into the hole to cover it. If you want to use a paper towel, try it. It was reported to me by one of my students that their dog ate the entire cup of food, including It's not within your power to change

Both cups produced 25 cocoons each. The one on the left did great and produced In the second cup, all of the caterpillars perished and there were no caterpillars to produce anything. Seller was very adamant about not doing anything about them as they sat side-by-side. I am not sure what she was thinking. Photos were sent to them, but they claimed they did not receive them. The second one eventually went to waste and I gave up.
Because of the faster delivery time, I ordered these instead of Insect Lore butterflies I'd been using for years. Due to the fact that the caterpillars are in the cups, the process has not been ideal because the caterpillars are alive in both cups. There are several problems with the cup's design. Firstly, the "paste" is located in such an uphill place that it is impossible to observe caterpillars between the food and the paper. Our view is obstructed by a lid. Unfortunately, we bought them for observation, so they did not turn out to be as expected!
Secondly, we attach the caterpillars' chrysalides to a piece of fibrous paper, which after being attached to the tent, is pinned to the side. In principle, it's a fine idea (although it's a bit more challenging to execute than the Insect Lore lid stand). The chrysalis silks attach badly to the paper fiber, and our butterflies are finding it hard to push themselves off because they don't have a hard surface to push themselves off of. The last 2 that haven't made it out of the chrysalis are two (so far). During its 24 hours of flapping and wriggling, one butterfly was only able to get half a wing out of the chrysalis and was knocking into the others. It died after being removed, so we had to get rid of it. The second butterfly was injured because the paper and silk threads got tangled and stuck to it, injuring it. It isn't expected to survive for very much longer because of the damage it has suffered. The overall message of this film is one of sadness, so you might want to think twice before buying it for young children to watch. On our next visit, we will be returning to the Insect Lore game.
The butterflies in this cup were bought out of desperation when we realized that we wouldn't be able to order from our "usual company" in time to have them and complete the cycle before school ended. Despite not being prime orders, the delivery window was still shorter than that provided by the other service. Nearly two weeks have passed, and we have already seen caterpillars growing and making chrysalises. During this period before the release, I will update my review if anything goes wrong. As a result, we had 39 caterpillars total to start off. Two of the containers had much smaller caterpillars than the other two, which we were fine with. Food was plentiful for them, and the cups in which it was served were large enough for everyone to move around and eat to their hearts' content. For our caterpillars to go through their transformation, it took about 11 days, and for the smaller ones it took about 14 days. It was sort of an irregular schedule. A few weeks ago, he fell and we just left him there hoping that he would be okay. A total of 100% of caterpillars made it into their chrysalises, which was amazing. My husband and I pinned the paper part of it to the roof of our habitat with sewing pins. Our first glimpse of the butterflies emerging from the chrysalises came about a week after that. The only one that failed to emerge was 1. After watching him wiggle and wiggle and wiggle for quite a while, he finally fell and never came back As it turns out, the one on the ground emerged and we named him Crumple Wing because he had only one wing and was missing several teeth. The creature was still able to discover the food we put in front of him and was alive for a lot longer than I had anticipated.

I'm just giving teachers and parents a heads up! They watched them with wonder and we look forward to seeing how the 2 we have left will be when they.
Since my kids and I are so into raising caterpillars, we have raised them for years. There was a difference between the company I usually use and this one. First, I had only been given two cups with caterpillars and two empty ones. The company sent me two cups with caterpillars after I reached out to them. It was smaller than I am used to, but it did not bother me. They roam around their house, which is netted, as soon as we open up the cups. It gets dried out, so we mix water with the food every two days and it's good. Having gotten bigger and bigger over the course of two weeks, the caterpillars have become noticeable.
