3-Pack Insect and Butterfly Habitat Cage Terrarium Pop-up Butterfly Enclosure (3 x 15.7 x 15.7 x 23.6")

My home is on Long Island, NY where I have raised exclusively monarch butterflies in similar enclosures during its last 4 migration seasons (releasing over 2700 healthy monarchs from August-October of 2020), so I have made a lot of experiences having tried about 8-foot enclosures. A selection of 9 models with various features, shapes, and sizes from different manufacturers. Here are a few things I liked about the product 1
It was a pleasant surprise to see a full-color instruction booklet included in the product, as it was the first time I had ever received one with a butterfly enclosure. I wish I had had it when I was just getting started about raising monarchs and swallowtails. It is very helpful for novices to learn about those topics. Two additional points There are two zippers, which means access can be achieved from two directions (the flexibility comes in handy when releasing or tagging multitudes of over 20 butterflies at once), while all enclosures I've seen at this price point have only had one zipper. 3

Recycled soft drink containers with lids ensure that the milkweed stays upright and fresh (like cut flowers in water) and that the caterpillars do not drown in the water, as the lid acts as a barrier (where the straw goes into the water is where the milkweed goes). Through this arrangement, monarch caterpillars enjoy a more hygienic environment that better simulates the natural world where they can (for the most part) avoid walking on their feces or droppings. In a softdrink container, the shorter and wide models are too short to accommodate the large stems of common milkweed. A taller model will not fit upright in the back seat of my compact vehicle (Toyota Yaris) without me bent the wire frame slightly, which might pose a danger of butterfly crushing.
4. Although some habitats have thicker nylon floor covering rather than mesh, the mesh bottom on this product is more appealing to me because it insulates and air-conditions. The towel dries faster after I soak it in highly diluted bleach solution (to be used in the bathtub). This is 5*. In my experience, my houseplants are better protected by the mesh size because it consistently keeps predators out and keeps aphids (or accidentally hatching tachinid larvae or flies) from escaping and entering. The best practice is to keep different ages and sizes of monarch butterflies apart (in order that they do not get lost in growing caterpillars or accidentally eaten by the larger flowers), and also because O infection cannot be prevented by mixing growing caterpillars and mature monarchs. This is a 3-bedroom, 1 bath home It's ideal for growing monarch caterpillars since it's healthy and conducive to growth. Definitely would refer this seller to any person asking for a product recommendation if/when I need more enclosures and would definitely order from them again if/when I need more enclosures. I used to live in a homemade habitat until I really got into it. My friend who introduced me to this past time had a few netted habitats that I thought were pretty cool. I have been doing this now for several summers and I am working full time here in Florida, so I feel it’s only natural to have "real" habitats. During my online search, I found the Restwell offerings to be what I was looking for, and offered at a good price. They arrived exactly when they said they would, and I was SO Pop them up easily, and they hold Is) perfectly fine. Easy access for cleaning and adding food is provided by the zippered opening. Since the solid plastic allows me to see what is happening with the cats, we will not disturb their space in any significant way. There is no doubt I recommend them. When I needed to move them, the plants inside were heavy and caused the bottoms to sag, which is the ONLY reason I gave them a 4 star rating for sturdiness. I would only like to let folks know that this is not a huge deal.

My purpose for using these enclosures is It is very tightly woven, so it helps maintain the enclosure even when even small predators, such as ants, are present. As well as being great for chrysalises to eclose, they provide safe facilities for chrysalises. This is ideal for monarch caterpillars because it's safe and healthy. These three sizes vary depending on whether you wish to raise a small or large number of caterpillars. These habitats function well both for raising and protecting growing caterpillars, as well as very useful for the cats when it comes time to go into chrysalises. Furthermore, it cleans well and is very durable so it can be reused year after year. Initially, I use the smaller habitat for caterpillar eggs, and as their hatching and growth progress I move on to the next larger habitat.

My neighbor had a wasp nest this year and it keeps killing my caterpillars. I have a butterfly garden, but this year I can't kill the nest. These were bought so I could put them in The milkweed is working great in the pots. I also cut one flower stalk from my garden to use as milkweed. There was something I loved about I have never been more carefree and easy in raising my monarchs thanks to them. The stems of the milkweed that have caterpillars or eggs on them stay fresh until they are eaten if I fill a vase with them. The same stem grew in my egg and grew into a caterpillar when it was mature. It is easy for me to replace it if they devour it all. It's always an unseen egg or a little caterpillar that comes in with the stem, so this house is And so on.
