Trains on our track are halting half way around. Plug-ins of this type are available on a track. Is there a place to attach the splayed ends once this product has been plugged in?

Using this plug is only required if you are using an older Lionel operating accessory that does not have the plug. There are plug-ins like the plug on the other end of this cable that allow expansion. In these older products, the splayed wires are attached to wires or leads (usually the black and red wires. It is not necessary to use the grounding wire.
