To begin with, both children and adults will enjoy this boat. Controls are simple to use, and the learning curve is minimal. The battery, unfortunately, only lasts about 10 minutes at most. It takes a few hours to take it out, charge it, and then put it back in, so it isn't used very often. If you decide to purchase this, I recommend purchasing 5 additional rechargable battery packs in advance. charge.
The thing drags asses across the water, and I nearly killed a duck with my boat when I ran over it.
I won't be able to open it until he does, but I'm tempted! It arrived in good condition, and it took about five days to arrive. br>br>UPDATE: br>br> look at the video This thing is a blast; we charged the battery for about 2 hours before using it and got about 10 minutes of total run time, and my son had a crowd of people gathered around him at the beach to watch it go. It's a whirlwind! Because the controls are simple, it didn't take long for my son to figure out how to use them. For making me feel like I'm succeeding as a parent, I've been given a five-star rating.
Wow! My jaw is still agape in surprise at how well they handle customer service a month or two later, after I finally got around to updating this. br>br>Original review. br>I and my boys had a great time with this over the course of a week and a half at the lake, but when I looked closer at the boat toward the end of our time to see why it seemed to be ending each run with a little more water inside the hull, I was surprised to find the bottom screws holding the hull together thoroughly rusted! After only a week of use in fresh (and clean and very clear) lake water, this was the result. It was left out to dry in the low-light environment for a total of *maybe* 90 minutes across all uses, and every moment in between. Alpine air has a high humidity level. Despite the fact that this was an extremely gentle use cycle, the screws are already severely rusted. Using stainless steel screws wouldn't have added more than a dollar to the bill of materials, but it would have elevated this above a disposable toy. br>br>I purposefully chose not to return it (despite the fact that I do feel a little stupidly overly-excited about it). honest about it) solely because I felt I got most of my $70 worth of value out of it over that 10-day period, but anyone expecting to use it for longer than that, I *really* cannot recommend it. It's a shame, because it's pretty cool when it works. (At the very least, on glassy flat water -) Be aware that using it on water with anything more than a gentle ripple is a complete waste of time, though I believe this is true of nearly all radio-controlled devices. Boats that are controlled and governed by physics - a six- To these small boats, a one-inch wave is equivalent to a five-foot wave. swelled to a size of 20 a boat for two people.
Don't get the 5-minute rule mixed up with the 10-minute rule. In comparison to a 200, I give it a star. Brushless boat with a model number of 00 br>br>It's a great deal for what it is (brushed motor and all) at the price. I'm not sure how long it'll last, but it took a lot of willpower. On several occasions, the RC boat collided with another RC boat, and it was driven into a dock and a rowboat without sustaining any injuries. The seal is still intact. br>br>I'd give it five stars if the instructions on when to lubricate were clearer. Is it something I should have done before I started? Following each run, what should you do? Is it only before or after it's been stored? Is there a limit to how many batteries you can have? When it gets hot after a certain amount of time? What happens when it starts to smoke? br>br>However, it's a nice boat that turns and runs faster than I expected. My friends and I had a great time, and they've decided to purchase boats as well.
I was a little concerned about how the boat would perform in the water; most RC boats claim to go fast but never do. THIS DOES ALL OF THESE THINGS AND MUCH MORE. It's fairly watertight, and it moves differently than any other RC boat I've seen. It took only a few minutes for my 8-year-old son to get the hang of it, and it's fairly simple to control. br>br>The only drawback we discovered was the battery life. It takes about 15 minutes to fully charge and run at full speed. Although it comes with a second battery, it beeps nonstop to warn you when the battery has only two bars left. My only criticism is that it is too short. Overall, I would gladly purchase another boat from this company.
I tried to get a good video of it on the lake, but it whizzed by so quickly that the video was blurry. This boat was originally purchased as a birthday present for my 12-year-old son. br>When he opened it and saw what it was, he was overjoyed. We wanted to use it right away, but you have to charge the batteries first. br>The next day, after we were sure it was fully charged, we took it down to the lake to put it to the test. br>It takes some time to get used to the controls, but once you do, it's a breeze. I was afraid that because the boat is so fast, it would get too far away from us and we would lose control. br>I strongly advise anyone aged 12 and up to try this boat. br>Because we love all things remote control, we were more familiar with what to do, but I still recommend reading all of the instructions before operating and practicing in a smaller body of water until you get the hang of the controls.
It was a point of contention between my husband, son, and myself! So, for a change of pace, I purchased the blue one. It cost $70 for both. For the past few days, I've been using the blue boat, which far outperforms the yellow one. faster/speed and a lot more precision in turns. Right turns are a known issue for the yellow one. The blue one is so precise that it circles the yellow one (literally)! Take a look at this!.
