Questions & Answers
On Amazon, you can buy a complete tail assembly. (horizontal and vertical stab) The old one must be carefully removed with an exacto knife, and the new one must be glued in place. On Hobbyzone's website, there's an instructional video for this, and you'll also need to reconnect the control rods and double-check that everything is in the right place.
There are no connectors on the tails.
No, it does not include the back wheel. If you don't have one, you can substitute a small piece of plastic. This will slide just as well if you cut a piece of plastic gift card in half.
The wheel wire bracket is taped in place, and that's all there is to it.

If you're wondering, it also includes the small connector pieces. See pic. br>The quality of the Champ tail, including this replacement, isn't very good. This is the fifth or sixth time I've done it. Every year, I break it, and because I enjoy flying Champ, I have to buy and replace it.
Hobbyzone's provision of replacement parts is a nice touch. Despite the fact that they are outrageously overpriced (in my opinion), they are still worthwhile. I'd strongly advise purchasing several of these at once to save money on shipping later on, especially if you fly and crash frequently, as I do. I've been gluing the tail to the fuselage with hot glue. It appears to hold up well, and despite what some people have told me, it does not appear to be heavy enough to set the plane of balance. Using clear scotch tape to reinforce appears to be very effective. Because the Styrofoam is so thin, it can easily snap in the event of a hard landing. The Pros: br>br>The Pros: br>br>The Pros: br>b The good: It fits the champion perfectly and includes connectors for pull/pushrods (small plastic attachments). br>The bad: Overpriced and not very long-lasting.
It will shatter once more. However, it is inexpensive enough that you can purchase a few and continue the torturous cycle. br>br>Two tail assemblies on my Hobbyzone Champ have been broken. The first was my fault, and the second was due to normal wear and tear from flying (creases will appear after a number of flights). It's made of styrofoam that's incredibly cheap and thin. This saves weight and money, but it's also quite fragile; I broke one while attempting to install it. But that's partly my fault for not installing things carefully enough. br>br>This part seems like it should be around $2. But, after all, someone has to make a living, right?.
It's a brand-new tail wing that actually works. The only drawback is that you must be cautious when re-using it. putting the plane together I didn't use glue to hold the plastic tab that held the upright to the wing to the wing, and it started to tear again on one of my rough landings. I also added some 3x5 card stock to the tail to help it stay in place better. br>br>Of course, this is Styrofoam, so it will break now and then; however, these inexpensive repairs are preferable to learning on a costly plane. br>br>I really like the plane and how simple it is to maintain.
If you own a Champ, you'll probably go through at least one set of these. One of the weakest links is the tail sets, but they're simple to replace. Although no instructions are provided, the assembly is straightforward. To get back in the air, all you'll need is some double-sided tape and/or foam safe glue. My only gripe is that the colors don't go together. It's a darker orange than the previous one. The replacement wing, on the other hand, matches. enquire as to how I came to this conclusion. Ha!.
This replacement is made to the same specifications as the original and fits perfectly on the plane's body. It's simple to install and comes with everything you'll need to finish the job. If you fly the Champ plane, it's a good idea to have some spare parts on hand because the tail is very thin and the most likely to be damaged on impact. I ordered two of these at the same time as a replacement wing and it's ready to go if you need it.
This is the ideal replacement part for the Hobby Zone Champ. The control tabs are included. Because the tabs are difficult to attach and there are no instructions, I first attached the control surfaces to the rudder and alieron, then secured them with a dab of hot glue. After that, hot glue your landing wheel to the back of the plane.
This tail is required if you own a Hobbyzone champ. It's not difficult to set up, but it does take some time, and once it's done, it works perfectly.
