Given the price, I was skeptical of their quality, but the Lexan shears have a subtle curve to them and appear to be very sharp - easily slicing through a polycarbonate shell that is relatively thick. br>br>The reamer has a very sharp point, and because it is conical (rather than stepped like drill bits), you can get a very precise hole. br>br>I reamed the holes in a polycarbonate shell from both sides, and the result was very clean - I was blown away. br>br>I'm not sure how long these will keep their sharpness, but I don't care because I'll definitely buy another.
The scissors are fine and perform admirably, but the reamer has me blown away! It appears to be well-made, and it's extremely sharp and pointy! I'm glad the reamer comes with a matching cover that screws on to protect it and anyone else from getting hurt accidentally when it's not in use. The tip resembles a sewing needle in terms of pointiness and sharpness. br>br>I've previously owned another brand of lexan scissors as well as a reamer. I misplaced my old scissors, but this one appears to be nearly identical to the one I remember. However, this new reamer is a night and day difference from my old reamer! My old reamer's tip was never very sharp, so it took a lot of effort just to get the hole started, and when it was finished, it never made a nice smooth circle. There were always jagged holes in the holes. This Hobbypark reamer slices through butter like a hot knife! I had to be extra cautious the first time I used it because I was so used to using my old reamer and having to put my hand behind where I was trying to make the hole and then pressing pretty hard just to puncture the lexan body that I had to use almost no force with this reamer. br>br>I've only used them on one body so far, and I'm hoping that it will maintain its shape for many years. I'll probably update this review if it breaks or becomes dull sooner than I expect it to last. (However, given the price I paid for this set, I have my doubts. ) It went above and beyond my expectations.
Lexan is not reammed by a reamer. For lexan, the reamer isn't very sharp. To get a hole through the lexan, you'll need to spend a lot of time "reaming. " The scissors, on the other hand, are even worse. Unusable in every way. They have a drab appearance and a sloppy fit. They have an uneasy feeling about them. Next time, I'll get a name brand pair of scissors, and I'll remember to return them within the return period. Simply do not purchase this; it is a complete waste of money.
The reamer tool is something I despise. It just isn't going to work. While the cutting edges appear to be sharp, they have not been properly ground and do not engage the surface of the material to be reamed properly. br>The scissors are inexpensive, but they do a good job of trimming a plastic shell car body.
They appear to be of good quality and work well. Also, after hole punching one rc body, the shaft is rusted and the tip is bent! This is a product that I would not recommend; you get what you pay for.
This is a fantastic combination set. I used it to cut out my Tamiya body and it worked perfectly. A hobby knife/box cutting knife for body curves would be the only thing I'd buy extra/add.
The fit and finish are superb. Cutting holes with the reamer takes a long time, but it is very clean. The scissor's curved handles make cutting out wheel wells a lot easier.
