The motors' terminals are connected by a single set of wire leads.

What's the best way to secure items to the drive axles?

I use them in my middle school students' class. To make the axels longer, we use pen tubes. It does a good job.

Is it possible to reverse the polarity of these motors, and if so, how?

Just flip the wires, that's all there is to it.

Is it possible for the motor to spin freely without current applied, like a bearing, but to torque when current is applied?

You can backdrive it, but it will be difficult. As a result, it isn't wormgear. Backdriving, on the other hand, necessitates applying as much force to the nylon shaft as I am comfortable with. It doesn't spin as freely as a bearing, but it does spin.

These motors performed admirably in my application

While I didn't use them in an Arduino SMART Car, I did solder each motor to a 9v battery pack and have my students make "toys" out of them. They were the cheapest, multiple motor pack sold in my prime account, and they worked perfectly for that project.

They appeal to me greatly. These are fantastic, and at such a low price, I'll most likely be purchasing more for simple cardboard engineering projects requiring high precision. students in high school 5V provides enough torque to pull a simple cardboard car with bamboo skewer axles at around 60 rpm.

Two of the items in the pack were severely underpowered, and one did not function at all. It's a good deal on tt motors, and the quality is comparable to what you'd get from most sellers.

Little drive train with a lot of torque

The amount of torque produced by this gear train pleasantly surprised me. If the axle shaft had been longer or rounded, I would have preferred it.

The motors are reduction gear motors with a great deal of power. The Raspberry Pi 3 L298N camera is powered by two motors that can carry three AA batteries. Good value for money.
