The easel I'm using is really annoying. I found that within the first couple of days one of the screws that allow the easel to fold up came loose. There is no way to fix this wood since it is too soft. There are just so many of them. I agree, even when conditioning it like it says to, chalkboards are pretty awful. Since I have it for a couple of years, we haven't used it much. This was a birthday present I bought for my son in February. I wish that it were a bit better made, but he has enjoyed it so far. Using the chalk side doesn't improve the clarity of the colors. We have used chalk from crayola as well as chalk zone (walgreens) and it doesn't make any difference. Using a white board for drawing is not a very good idea. While they write, off brands almost "stick" to their paper, making their writing look I actually had to get board cleaner for Expo since it writes very clear, yet doesn't come off well. My white board cleaner included windex, and the vinegar solution was also tested. It is hard to clean the white board. Even after thorough cleaning, you can see that it is quite stained.
