As part of the sale of my last house, I installed a competitor's rack in my garage. I found that rack to be very useful, but it also drove me insane. You may want to get an overhead rack that will make your life a little easier with 1) Find a rack that has corners with stands at the corners. This makes it much easier to load up the deck from a ladder since it has an 8 foot long rack. Since the supports are along the corners, you do not need to worry about fitting your items around the posts as much. This was a major nuisance with my last rack, and I learned the lesson by trying it this time around. Here and there. 2) Find a rack without a deck of wire. A flat bottom is not always the case for every item you're going to put on your storage rack. The wire deck of my previous rack almost made it impossible to slide an item to the back side of the rack once it was slid on. It was often necessary for me to lift the item completely off the deck in order to get it to move. I had to get under the rack a few times so that I could push and move my items from the underside of the wire mesh. The movement is extremely annoying, but it is made even worse when you are on a ladder, or when you have something heavy in your arms. A rack that can't be accessed from all sides, particularly, is an important consideration. It just so happens that this rack checks both I almost consider that a blessing in a way, since it doesn't have a deck. Additionally, this rack is cheaper and you can install your own custom decking out of a material of your choice. Got an old 3/4" sheet of plywood lying You just found the deck you've been looking for! The old sheet of plywood I had was not available. I simply went to Home Depot and picked up a sheet that measured 8 feet by 4 feet. After attempting to install the single plywood sheet, I ran into problems (mainly because I couldn't maneuver the sheet into position while standing on the garage floor, and my wife wasn't strong enough to assist me. I cut the sheet down into two 4'X4' pieces because it was the next best thing I could do at the time. The sheets were simply placed on top of the beams, followed by fastening them down with the wood screws provided (that likely could have been a bit longer but work fine). There's no denying that finding the rafters in your roof to attach this rack to is the most difficult part of the installation. The pictures I took of the construction of my garage proved to be a great help to me. I would not have noticed that some of the joists weren't parallel to each other at some sides of the garage if it hadn't been for the survey. The laser level that projects on the ceiling helped me keep things straight, and it was a great help.

The four sections of this model have fewer contacts between each other, creating a more solid structure, than the models with wire decking. Comparing photos of the wire deck models, this one has fewer points of contact between the four sections. The model has absolutely no movement when I use the 3/8" decking I installed. The downrods were three inches too long for my six-foot-four frame, so I had to cut them. Build the two decks from 4x4s, mount downrods (they have hooks on the bottom) and then connect them to the ceiling. Mount the 4x4 plywood that was cut from an 8x4 by the Hardware store from the 4x8 piece of plywood in place of the 2 decks. Lift up the decks one at a time and attach to the hooks, then add hardware. In addition, I installed three 1"x4" pieces to keep things from sliding. Product of high quality.

This is something I've been wanting to do for over a year now. One of the reasons I haven't done it sooner was I was not comfortable with mounting it to the ceiling. I've always wanted to make an overhead air filter to help clean the air in my garage and workshop, and last year my neighbor upgraded his I was trying to learn how to set up and mount it, but first I needed to get comfortable with how to house and mount it. Originally I thought about chains, but worried it would swing a lot from the force, then I thought about mounting it directly on the ceiling with rubber bushings, but worried it would still be a problem because of the vibration and noise. My next epiphany was that I already have an overhead rack for storage in my garage, so I didn't want to buy another one just to avoid using There is a FLEXIMOUNT system on amazon and it's $60 or less Getting this one without a base meant I could modify it to my specifications for $70 less than a rack with a wire base. Possibly two hours were needed to put it together by myself. It would have been helpful if a second person had come along but it is definitely doable by one person. I think the weight limit is 600 lbs. I think this is a really strong chair. I'm just under 100 pounds, so even though the enclosure will require a lot of work, I'll actually find myself with additional storage above my shop! As you may have gathered, I am super excited. It easily assembled by myself as opposed to my other rack, which I own a more "name brand" one. I can tell you, comparing the two, the Ram Rack is JUST AS STRONG, IF NOT STRONGER, and was easy to assemble on my own. I think one of the best things about this game is simply the fact that you can buy it without a base, thus saving so much money. In addition to the wood under the current cabinet, I am planning to upgrade it with a few other upgrades, so I liked the fact that I could build my own base I used 1/2 inch plywood. Anything over 3/8's will give you a load capacity of 600 lbs.

Getting the software installed was not as easy as it seems. This kind of work would have been the same with most other units as well, such as finding the studs, climbing up and down the ladder a thousand times, screwing in all the pieces, etc. The bottom of the box was made from OSB board. I find it to be pretty sturdy. need all of the parts because I needed it at the short height (around 19") and so I had to improvise a little, but in general, if one is proficient at installing something like this they should have the common sense to just "make it work". It was really helpful to have an impact driver on hand which worked beautifully to drive the lag screws into the studs. It saved a lot of time and I'd highly recommend it.

Once the six top brackets were in place, the rest was a breeze. To make it easier, I would recommend two people instead of one. We probably spent 2 hours on the task. In addition to MDF boards, we also used plastic sheeting for the base. Twenty dollars. low as needed (22-48" This is 40 inches tall). A 30 inch hangers worked perfectly and it was very strong. It certainly saves a lot of space! Perhaps I'll order another one for us!.
