Because it doesn't have any local storage, you only get 12 second cloud clips, which are triggered by leaves blowing by but not by Amazon leaving a package. The paid subscription is awful and unworthy of your money. Honestly, just get a v3 Wyze camera and stay away from this doorbell.
br>I was missing footage for the cops because the doorbell decided there was no motion and didn't upload anything. Yes, I paid an additional fee for a year of CamPlus Subscription, but it still failed miserably. br>br>Avoid this product until it has a local recording option via SD card.br>br>I highly recommend the Wyze Cams version 3!
It works with Alexa, of course.
Yes, it must be connected to the outside world. Even if you don't have an existing doorbell, you can use the Wyze Video Doorbell with a standalone 16V-DC power supply. The doorbell is powered by a 24V, 10W transformer and wires.

It was easy to set up. I watched a YouTube video, but the Wyze App provides fairly clear instructions. Everything about the camera is excellent. I haven't tried the audio, but that isn't why I bought it. I purchased it in order to track down who is robbing me of my deliveries. br>br>An added bonus is seeing my 19-year-old son turn off the camera as he leaves or returns home. The door chime is effective. br>br> You won't find a better deal than this. br>br>Every time someone comes to the door, the camera sends out an alert. I recently received an Amazon delivery and was immediately notified. br>br>I am very pleased with the item's ease of use and functionality.
I like Wyze cameras and products, but I believe this garbage was made by a subcontractor. I can't tell how good the product is because the screws are too short and the backing doesn't have enough space for the wires. It's garbage, and I'm going to hang a damn cow bell outside my house instead.
**IMPORTANT UPDATE AT THE END*
br>I am satisfied with my purchase because of the price and the quality. The Wyze Doorbell performs exactly as advertised, despite the fact that I did not have an existing doorbell box and the original outside doorbell's wires were inoperable. When my sister's grandson opened the package, he discovered a rubber protector covering a place on the back of the camera where you can charge the camera with an Android style phone charging cable, YAY! So I drilled a hole in my wall and threaded the wire through it, and it works perfectly. So far, there have been no problems. It's been there for about two years. This has been going on for three weeks. If anything changes, for the better or for the worse, I'll update this. br>br>Update (which is bad): I had issues less than a week after posting the above review, which I will describe below. br>br>We had no idea that the rubber "seal" on the back of the camera was only covering the port to keep it waterproof, and that it was only intended for the manufacturer to use to do whatever they needed to do with the camera. I didn't realize that removing the rubber seal voids the warranty until yesterday, when I started having issues with the camera not connecting to my app, which started around 3 p. m. yesterday and continues to this day. I've double-checked the camera and double-checked my connections, but I'm still having issues. I finally got tired of dealing with it on my own yesterday and decided to do some troubleshooting using the WYZE app, which is when I discovered magically my sisters grandson voided my warranty unknowingly when he removed the rubber seal to use his grandma's phone charger cable to power it to see if it worked. . . which he did the moment he took it out of He is 13 years old and is growing up in the electronic digital age, but he had no idea it would void my warranty because there was no warning. My warranty should not have been voided in this manner without WYZE providing better notice and information to their customers. br>br>As a result, I'm downgrading my rating from four to one. I believe there should have been a CLEAR visual warning about this problem- Not only in the information about the doorbell, but also right on top of the camera as you open the box, there should be a warning in large red letters or something similar, and it should also be made clear that this camera will not work for homes without working preexisting doorbell electrical wiring. According to WYZE Troubleshooting, the voltage coming from the wall is not the same as what goes to the doorbell wiring, which can destroy the camera or, worse, start a fire in the home. Wouldn't you say that's something worth putting in big bold red letters across the back of the camera, or right when you open the box and in the camera's information, or SOMETHING easily visible? br>br>With that said, I strongly advise against it. Unless you're able and willing to run new wiring to power this doorbell camera, it's not recommended for anyone who lives in a home without working preexisting doorbell wiring. br>br>It should have been clearly stated in large red letters, but it wasn't. I have no sympathy for the youngster. WYZE is to blame! br>br>This is the first time I've ever had an issue with anything I've received from them, and it's a big deal to me. To be perfectly honest, it leaves a sour taste in my mouth about WYZE right now! I've purchased three of their products, and I doubt I'll be purchasing anything else from them unless the company makes a significant change in how it informs people about important safety information about their products!.
The Wyze doorbell was installed successfully, and the camera functioned as expected - However, I was unable to view recorded events via the cloud at any time. I began troubleshooting with support, but it appears that I did not complete their tasks quickly enough, so my ticket was closed without a solution. My camera's colors distorted while I was going through the troubleshooting steps and reinstalling it (which required me to unmount and reset it). I'm just getting rid of it and replacing it with a more advanced doorbell; you get what you pay for.
I'd like to use it, but I'm unable to do so because I don't have an existing doorbell to power it. It would have been better if it had been made more obvious. Bummer.
In my scenario, I used the included 30 degree wedge to get a better field of view. br>br>With the help of the Wyze App, I was able to install the doorbell in less than 20 minutes. br>br>Immediately updated to the most recent firmware, which addressed the motion detection zone concerns raised by YouTube reviewers. br>br>Although 12 second clips (saved to the cloud) with a 5-minute cool down are included at no extra charge, they are $1. Because the onboard SD card option is unavailable, the 5-month plan (billed annually) is worth considering. br>br>So far, the field of view, motion detection, and image quality have all exceeded my expectations. If you're looking for a low-cost doorbell camera, this is the one to get. br>br>Because this is a short-term review, I'll update it if anything changes in the future. Best wishes to you.
