This jacket does NOT possess flame retardant properties. This jacket feels great, fits well, but there is NO FR (flame retardant) in the main body of the jacket. After wearing the jacket four times, there was a fire that started up from sparks. When I was using a 5" grinder on the left edge between the third and fourth button, grinding a weld and smelling something different I looked down and saw my jacket was burning. I blotted it out and changed into my regular full leather welding coat. My t-shirts usually come in shades of red, purple, or blue You won't have to worry about your shirts catching fire even.
I usually can't stand wearing a full leather jacket in the summer, but this one keeps me protected on the arms and keeps They are fast to snap and unclip, I've had them a month now, and I really like them I've had 12 years of welding experience etc.
If you often weld overhead, I recommend wearing long sleeves underneath because slag falling on the leather arms can still burn you if they are in direct contact with your For the price, this is a great product.
Make sure the slag is kept off the leather so it will last a lifetime. You shouldn't let it pile up on the leather sleeves - the resulting heat will make it hard and it will lose its suppleness.
It is uncomfortable to wear sleeves that are stiff and constricting. Wearing this all day can be a huge advantage, not just in terms of protection but in terms of comfort. The leather on this belt is not as soft as other leathers, but it does protect you very well. It is nice to wear a high collar to protect my neck.
My jacket has been used for every position at welding school and I have had it for about 8 months and the sleeves are still holding up good, but the jacket itself started having holes, but overall, it is a great jacket for the price. Does get warm sometimes but it is bearable. We would buy this product.
There are no problems with the jacket. There are too many snaps and they are cheap. The snaps on the bottom of the garment were torn off, but the collar snaps failed, so the garment was useful only At my school I spent about a quarter and a half on it. For half the price of one at the welding supply store, I'm fine with it. The one I bought last time was a bit cheap, so I am going to spring for a nicer one this time.
